Is coving out of fashion?
Comments (8)I think coving works in any age house but is not always necessary. In your house you could either go very modern with white wall, no coving and furnish with mid century classics. Alternatively you can put coving for a more comfortable traditional look. Most coving is inexpensive to really add a wow I say get something more substantial (not more ornate....just bigger). You can buy this online or from a professional decorating centre. Comments (5)The only issue with ledged and brace with traditional fittings is the draftproof element. They do tend to curl way from the stops in my experience. If you have the money id go for a framed ledge and brace or any other style you fancy made bespoke for you to suit your sizes. If sound / draft proofing is an issue you can put a seal in the door stop that the door shuts tight against cutting out all draft and noise....See MoreNeed advice on internal doors, whats in whats out ?
Comments (3)All depends on your home style and your taste really ... Some Victorian Houses can look stunning with graphite or black internal doors as a statement piece - some cottages suit oak latched doors - a modern apartment can look fab with minimal flat, wall coloured, doors... Comments (1)You could go for leaded windows but they can look a bit dark. We have looked at two options for you: changing the door to a traditional vertically boarded oak door and having matching oak double glazed windows. We have used Georgian bars instead of cottage bars to let more light in. For a full matching look you may want to change the fascias too. Or to really lift the house we have looked at a six panelled glazed wooden door painted in a blue grey. We have added matching timber double glazed windows with a horizontal glazing bar to let in even more light. we think this looks great against the brick colour and works will with the existing white on the house. Good luck with your project, please post some photos when it's finished so we can see what you decided on....See Morejessegee
