Bland Kitchen
Comments (38)I'll be able to get one in a few weeks as the whole house has been renovated and the decorator has his pasting table and paints etc in there at the moment. I think the kitchen is beautiful but 'safe.' If it were me I would bust the budget on designer lights over the seating area, change the stools to Kartell Ghost/Masters/One More/ More Please stools and hang a large canvas on the wall directly behind the stools. She probably won't be able to match a colour to the units - the designer who designed my kitchen informed me post installation that the company purposely makes their colours virtually impossible to match up so that nothing can be mixed and matched from other companies! If you want a colour to match, match up with the handles - chrome and maybe think about a silver or very light grey blind. Its truly worth going to a professional interior design studio as their range of fabrics is phenomenal and they would be able to make the perfect window covering that would work a treat. In my home city there are dozens of places which offer this service and have a wonderful rage of blinds. I'm writing this presuming you want contemporary - if you have a bigger budget you could tile the wall opposite the sink with modern marble or slate tiles etc. If you want boutique - roman blind, crystal pendants and art and keep the current stools. Paint all white and make your art stunning (think the way art is displayed in a gallery on bright white walls.) I think you are looking for the 'wow' factor and that takes time - I have redesigned my bedroom 3 times and I posted on here for advice on my wall colours in my lounge - it's frustrating but worth it when you know you have the look!...See Morebland small lifeless living room.
Comments (26)Mrsmcee74 yeah i see what you mean now... ill look more into that... would sit nice yet still let light in, thank you! Natalie Patton, no idea why it wont let you? i think i know what you mean (Im also bad at explaining certain stuff so we're probably on the same wavelength haha) im a fan of eclectic gallery walls, will also look more into that (pinterest is good for templates etc) it might get abit expensive putting all these ideas in to action but Ill just buy in bits and pieces over the next few week and put it altogether when he's at work, surprise!! haha. Ill make sure i post some 'after' pics when it's finished. Thank you for your help :-)...See MoreShare your design dilemma and win Dulux paint!
Comments (629)Hi Andrea Brooks We can totally understand your dilemma - ‘Magnolia’ is certainly not for everyone! Different colours can evoke different moods and feelings, so don’t limit yourself to one colour throughout your whole house. Dark moody tones work brilliantly in bedrooms, and have been proven to help induce better sleep. Our favourite at the moment is Dulux’s Denim Drift. Bright, fresh colours are great for kitchens, and for creating a lively happy atmosphere. I love Dulux Coral Canyon which is really uplifting. Finally, dusted blues and greens have amazing calming qualities, and are fantastic for any rooms you want to relax and unwind in. Dulux Dusted Moss is a beautiful, versatile colour that will suit most styles of property, either traditional or modern. If you are cautious about using colour, why not introduce it slowly through your accessories, or as a feature wall, as these can be easily updated and replaced. Good luck and we would love to see the results. Hannah Dulux Amazing Space www.designer.duluxamazingspace.co.uk...See MoreHow can I make our bland 1970's exterior more appealing?!
Comments (12)It all comes down to budget as always. The bigger the budge the more you can do. I would be really mindful of the fact, that if you change the facade, it would be better if you could change the windows. The wood cladding I agree would look fabulous, you could have the bottom a lovely grey to tone in. However, neither will look good with bog standard white windows, as both look better with a dark grey, thinner Aluminium Frame or a Chunkier Sandy Beige Frame. When you add white windows, the effect is not quite so slick The pic above shows the white windows with the cladding and it would look a lot better with the darker, thinner frames. If you can't afford to change or colour bond the windows, then maybe go for all over colour, a dark grey would be good, and consider changing the Front door for impact. Alternatively, work towards doing the ultimate change. The vertical wood cladding, with a grey underneath and a door to match the wood. Thinner dark pewter aluminium framed windows etc. sorry about the mock up quality!...See MoreA S
