How would you style your boudoir?

Boudoir - just the word sounds opulent and mysterious, don't you think? It actually derives from the French 'bouder', which means to be sulky. This sounds less exciting, so let's pretend it means 'a room to be fabulous in'.

What would you have in your boudoir? Would you go for mirrors, cushions, blankets, lots of flowers?

I would love to have a dedicated dressing table like this in my bedroom to display some of my prettiest perfume bottles and makeup. At the moment I have enerything hidden away in a drawer, so it would be a real luxury to have a tabletop to display a few things https://www.houzz.com/photos/1930s-semi-traditional-bedroom-london-phvw-vp~3389230

My husband trusts me and prefers I make all those decisions. That said I always ask his opinion on large pieces. If I left it all to him he would lose interest before finishing! Design is so not his thing. But then I'm not interested in documentaries on outer space or Lego.... Best we stick to our own interests I think! ;)

How would you get more light into your home using your door choices?

To transfer light from a well externally-lit room to one that is not (eg internal hall) - glazed internal doors transform a space. These can be as decorative or as plain as required to suit the design of the space. On a recently completed project, we adopted a design that hinted towards the deco character of the building.

I had a similar design quandary - hunt for OnePlan on Houzz. She has a sliding scale of design charges, and we paid for a couple of hours design work. She came up with several designs for us, and we were able to make some changes which she incorporated into the final sketch. We're currently getting quotes for the actual build.

I have something closer to the Wycome set - although fabric (washable) padded seats and a bench. However I love the luxurious look of the Maddox chairs. I think probably the Wycombe is more functional on a regular use kind of table, however the Maddox would be great for dinner parties where you might spend an entire evening at the dining table!

Yes I love the dark, mysterious, sulky, intrigue and inky boudoir, here's a mood board I just put together.. It brings, textures, history, warm woods against misty hues, inky layers... velvets, fabric, cushions and comfort... It's dramatic and serene....golds give way to warm woods for their luxurious effect.. The folds of slumber edge closer as the mind journeys to ideas unborn...
