My house is FREEZING - any tips?
Comments (23)Stephen Edwards makes a really good point about the thermostat, and it works both ways (ie causing the heating to come on when you don't need it, as well as going off when you do!). Thermostats are often placed in the hallway, which can be colder than the rest of the house by cold air coming in through a draughty front door. It sounds like you have systemic problems to solve, but once those are sorted out you could look at draughtproofing, paying particular attention to anywhere that affects the thermostat. If you identify your letterbox as draughty you could look at fitting one of our letterbox solutions (we do a lovely stainless steel front letterplate as well as an inner letter box draught excluder), and if you have a pet that's going in and out through a draughty, rattly old catflap we do a pet door too. Hope you get things sorted in time for the cold weather!...See MoreCrittall internal doors effect - any other alternative?
Comments (8)Hi we do another version from Crittall - called aluminium steel look which are not as expensive as Crittall, and a lot more popular as another option - lead-time is not as long either! http://www.croydonwindows.com/architectural-glazing-services/aluminium-steel-look/ https://www.houzz.co.uk/projects/2775990/aluminium-steel-look...See MoreAny tips on furniture placement
Comments (9)That helps alot !!....Its a lovely room ...just needs some help with furniture etc. I can see why you use the table near the window. Can you spend any money or were you just wanting a change around ?? If you've got money I would do the following.... Buy a round/oval table and chairs to go in bay Sell sofa and buy a corner one - keep where it is Remove single chair (could be used in bedroom/study etc) and put a small console style table where the chair was. This will give the kitchen entrance a more open feel. Mount the TV on the wall (above where it is) This will free up the cupboard underneath for some ornaments/plants etc. A more expensive option would be to remove doors of cupboards and block in anything below waist height. This will give you more wall space and you could maybe play around with your sofas etc....See MoreAny tips and tricks for oak architraves?
Comments (5)Kristine, ours is MDF and so is the skirting. We chose it so there are no knots. We purchased it from one of our suppliers (we are in the joinery trade) but now they have discontinued it, so you’d have to look online to see who does it. There are various heights and some different patterns. We just chose a plain one. Haven’t noticed any scratches at all. We opted for it because after applying Monocoat it never has to be touched again so low maintenance. The doors were prefinished so again no maintenance. We just don’t want it now we’re clocking on 😂....See MoreSara Slade Interiors
