Comments (40)Thanks tamp75. It turns out the painter is only doing a white mist coat today & is returning later in the week so I have time to buy even more testers. LOL. He said I can paint the testers on the walls in the extension which should help as it is west facing whereas the playroom that I tested them on is east facing. We were originally going to go with Cornforth White kitchen cabinets but DIY's standard light grey was a lovely colour (&,cheaper!) so we went with that. I think if we'd gone with Cornforth White the decision making on the wall colour would have been easier!!...See Morekitchen design
Comments (28)Hi, I would move the breakfast bar further into the lounge/diner area, It looks like a pretty big room so it could take it. Extend the run of units to regain storage lost from lack of wall units. Which BTW is a good move. Too many people go for the traditional Base and wall unit design and its a bit tired. The lack of wall units on the Hob wall will make the room seem bigger and more contemporary. Sometimes blurring the boundary between rooms makes for a more flowing design. I would however look at the high tower unit config again. I've designed and fitted kitchens for 25 years and personally I wouldn't put a high tower unit against a base unit on an adjacent wall in that manner. It will make the worktop mounted unit in the corner very difficult to reach. Also fit Magic corners to corner base units. Makes better use of the space, although research online for best prices as ALL retail kitchen stores charge 3 times what they cost. As far as which brand? There isn't much to choose between most high street. Wren are no worse than Howdens or magnet , I've fitted them all, but they probably will match any price you get and there is always a bit more they will discount so its worth haggling. Personally I would go with a local independent who supplies second nature kitchens for example. And if you do have somebody who has some experience in fitting , it would certainly be worth asking their advice. It's not as easy as most people think it is. Good luck with your project....See MoreHow much would you budget for the following work
Comments (3)Hello Sophocles, Could you provide some photographs of the house externally so we can date it please? What part of the country are you moving to? In particular interested if the roof is trussed or hand cut. Can you please indicate the direction of the floor / ceiling joists on the plans? You propose removal of the partition wall on the ground floor but the existing bathroom wall on the first floor shown to be removed appears to be partially sitting on it. Could some or all of this wall be load bearing? There is no access door into the first floor bathroom. The ground floor wall with the word up next to it could be removed and a door shown into the kitchen diner living room. Best wishes Andrew...See MoreSam N
