I have gold table with glass top love this lamp
Any ideas I can get one like it not to expensive

Would suggest widening the path, and keep it straight BUT halfway along widen it to create an area .say 8'x8' and put large pots planted with shrubs in around the sides, so the eye is diverted from the straight line, but you can still walk the shortest route. Plant an interesting small tree to either side, in the lawn, say Liquidamber, Witch Hazel, maple, Magnolia ... something with seasonal interest/foliage/flowers. Put a large attractive lamp at end of path.

I would be careful with the size of the shade because the diameter of the bottom of the shade should be narrower than the furniture it's sitting on (so it doesn't project into the room and get knocked or damaged). I think of lamps as the jewellery of the room and I love to introduce colour with them, such as a single shot of beautiful colour in a nice shiny finish. That way you'll have colour and a nice interesting shape. Get something with a white shade so that it can be a good light source. If you go with a black shade, it can be attractive, but the only light you'll get from it will be above and below the shade (not through it).

Hello Heidi, One thing that might help is using a neutral table cloth.. Consider a really oversized mirror that could lean up against one of the walls something like 8ft by 6ft if you want to get the feel of space here and the right side would be good on the long wall.. The opposite wall you could leave bare.... .. Remove the rug as this defines the floor area under the table which you don't want to do.. Hang a shade on the ceiling light and take off the frames from the window.. You could have a slim console here but otherwise leave the windows free so they remain as open as possible... What your aim is here is to get the eye to see the room as a whole.. At the moment the eyes go to the frames and then the brightly patterned table cloth which does emphasise the table and thus the size of the room... Place all the chairs round the table and at each end of the table so they are evenly proportioned.. Easily presented as an invaluable space for dining. Shabby chic or elegant sophistication both are possible with some tweaking to the dimensions... ie the Mirrors! I think these would see you through! : ))
