Beautiful kitchen! What is the width of the custom hood? Distance from wall? Ceiling height?

Hi, thanks for your questions. The ceiling height is 120" and the hood is 54" wide at its widest point and is about 25" deep. Thanks

We don’t sell any products, have no commissions coming in from anyone, so are totally focused on getting the design right to suit you ... then you shop around with that design and compare like for like - and buy from whomever you like best ! It’s not free, no. We have several levels of service , but even the most expensive is only about the cost of a good dishwasher, for most average sized kitchens. I'd like to add air extractors don't have a grease filter. It may increase smells (and everything that goes with stinky dirt) on the long run.. But most important: "An point to be checked is the required airflow for you extractor, normally this depends on the size of kitchen and also the type of cooking. The correct airflow for an extractor can be easily worked out, simply multiply the volume of the room by ten and you will obtain the ideal airflow for your kitchen. For example for a kitchen size of 4m x 4m with a height of 2.7m: (4 x 4 x 2.7) x 10 = 432. Therefore any product with the airflow of 432 m3/h will provide efficient ventilation."

A venting hob like the Bora is the best solution, especially if you plan to use an induction hob. A ceiling extractor is discrete, but, if you enjoy cooking and making fumes, a ceiling extractor is not likely to work as well as a good ventilating hob. If you do speak to Westin, I think they will tell you that a ceiling extractor is not the best solution for cooks who like to make lots of vapours, especially with smokey cooking. A ceiling hob is usually too high to be effective for serious cooks, unless it has a very powerful motor and has a deep inclined baseplate, which does not help your issue. A venting hob can extract outside (with forward planning) or, in most cases, recirculate. The expense isn't that high given that you get a hob and extractor in one.

It's completely up to you and what you feel looks right. Obviously the closer the extraction the better it will work and 750 is the usual distance from the cooktop. However, if you prefer the higher bridging unit, that will be completely fine too as steam goes up! good luck Emily x
