Thoughts on blinds and dressing this window?
Comments (3)Hi Lou, Roman blinds would be a lovely choice - you could also layer up with dress curtains for a really luxurious feel. Alternatively, if you're overlooked, you might like something with a slat. As Karolina mentioned, Wooden blinds are lovely, and when combined with tape they create a shutter style effect that lots of people love. Here are some pictures for inspiration. Good luck! Comments (12)Hi Maja Anthracite grey is a wonderful colour, and probably the most popular on all our products at the moment! They look amazing on houses, although sometimes the brick colour or rendering can mean they may be too dark or perhaps need less contrast, so they may not be right for everybody. A recent customer's house had a visible dark roof, so anthracite grey was a bit too much, and they chose a pale grey instead... I think your brick colour is lovely and pale so will contrast very nicely and will look amazing with anthracite grey - especially in the sunshine! Finished with a timber effect foil, you will hardly notice the difference between uPVC and original timber - except you will be getting all the benefits of a modern maintenance free window. You may want to look at a Solidor Composite Front Door to further enhance the look, security and low maintence qualities to the doors and windows of your home....See MoreHelp with ugly 1960s house
Comments (15)I think the first thing to do would be to paint the wood or look to reclad - could go for a tile? I think the biggest issue may the be rest of the terrace and those around you, so you may not want to go all out. subtle changes you make will likely have the biggest impact...See MoreSuggestions to update the exterior of 60's house. Cladding windows etc
Comments (5)Hi Alfie, A few suggestions that might help if you want a modern look to your home. Extend the current cladding to underneath the first floor window - this will create a nice line all the way from the ground to the pitch of your roof. Then stain all the cladding to match a deep wood color Change the windows at the fron of your house - may I suggest a black frame (here's a link with some examples - https://mariakillam.com/black-windows/). What this will do will balance the horizontal and verticle lines of the front of the house because of the grid like pattern of them, which is currently unaestethically pleasing. Also the white of the window frames do not go well with the cladding & brick colors. Paint your bricks a dark charcoal color. Paint your garage door black. Paint your front door black or install a larger front door package that is more modern and maybe incorporates the kind of windows you will have at the fron of your house like mentioned above. As has already been mentioned, the landscaping needs to be extended up to your home (the mature tree is wonderful). Right now the front of your home looks like a concrete jungle. You can soften this with scrubbery and possibly allowing a virginia creeper to climb up your home (this is a non-evasive climber that will not hurt your brickwork or structrual integrity of your home). All of these suggestions combined will transform the look of your home, give you an exterior to be proud of, and possibly give you the best looking house on your street. Of course, if modern is not what you are going for, this won't work, but may give you some ideas to jump off from. Best wishes & good luck!...See MoreWendy White
