Stairs and Hallway Vamp up:
Comments (26)I think you did a splendid job here. The dark and white woodwork is very well handled, and I like the color of the wallpaper and the stair runner. Tight spaces can be tough to manage, but you’ve done a fine job, it looks very inviting. I was particularly interested in the last photo; I have almost the exact setup in my own home, with a facing wall as you come down the stairs, and a shelf with various items on display (mine is quite the dust-catcher, I must admit). The space has always been a little dark, so I am planning to cut out an interior window, centered on the wall above the shelf, and mount a stained glass panel there. Since our guest room above it is bathed in bright southern sunlight, I am expecting a happy result. I just have to find the right window… I like the practical use you are getting from the space under the stairs, too. A perfect little spot to sit for a moment. Great job!...See MoreKitchen splash back, am i being too fussy?
Comments (19)Those sockets would really annoy me- I'm miffed that the light switches at different ends of a room are out by this much! I would expect a much better job from a so called professional (I wouldn't except this from my husband who isn't). The gaping on sockets with bevelled tiles is a known issue but the gaps could have been filled. Again bleeding from dark grouts, but they should have advised that the tiles wouldn't work with the dark grout or used a tile sealer to prevent it. I've always drawn a tiling diagram, working out the best layout to avoid getting little bits of tile at the end, centralise on the wall or wrap around the corners....See MoreCan you date my table?
Comments (42)Love it, it looks great :) That was a valspar paint wasn't it on the walls? That's the 2nd time today I've thought, hmm, maybe I should have shopped around a bit before paint a room F&B setting plaster! From memory you were looking at the Cole and son circus wallpaper, not sure of its proper name? The table and chairs look fab, you can see a fair bit of the coral legs. The wood has come up brilliantly. I think I remember a Victorian table before. I actually really like the floor as is.. I'm just trying to think back to your original inspiration pic as I probably won't find it again. Were you looking for the same effect but in Lino? I'm with you re spices and oil cabinets. The only thing I'd say is I think spices are meant to be stored in a cool place so may be better off in the larder....See MoreDecor in a dingy bathroom
