Classic contemporary Kitchen for a family home in Epsom
Our brief on this project was to make all three areas more connected. The current family room and kitchen were divided by a load bearing wall but both rooms opened up on to a large extension which had the dining table at one end an a sofa in the middle.
There was also huge unused space in the middle and no-one in the family wanted to use the family room because it didn't feel like part of the room.
The final design scheme was to move some of the kitchen out into the extension area by using an island unit. This housed the induction hob and extractor fan and 2 double ovens. We also created an overhang so it could be used as an breakfast bar.
The dining table was moved to the other end of the large room and the sofas were moved into the family room. Installing the island unit made use of the space in the extension and created more storage space as a kitchen but it also connected all three rooms and promoted more family chat and eating together.
