Oak-panelled restoration in an 15th century manor.
We were delighted to be contacted by an existing client to visit their newly purchased house and help design a new kitchen/dining area, plus various items of furniture throughout the house.
This historical manor set by the River Avon, was programmed into a schedule that would take 18 months of careful restoration.
The kitchen design was influenced by one of the house’s existing formal rooms, it had been fully oak panelled some 400 years earlier. The new furniture and panelling needed to be modern in appearance but still had to keep with the traditional features of the manor. Solid Oak was used throughout and waxed with a very subtle lime paste.
The kitchen was designed to have modern conveniences but these needed to be to skilfully integrated into the panelling. The ancient map above the AGA is a main feature that was requested by the clients and indeed features the house.
The book case and elevating TV media unit were made to the same exacting quality.
We also designed and made the large bookcase in the dining hall and the study furniture including the secret bookcase door.
