Rear Garden, Chelsea
My clients had a very barren garden following extensive buildlng works. They wanted to connect the house to the rear garden building in a pleasing and sensitive way, and make the garden seem larger and more private.
The rear of the garden is very shady, as it is under large London Plane trees, whereas the front part gets plenty of sun.
The main patio has been relaid in slate, with limestone edging blocks to frame the edge, and curves out into the garden, providing more space for a dining table and chairs close to the house.
The curving path tapers slightly as you get towards the end of the garden, and the stepping stones provide a lighter solution to providing access to the rear building than a solid path.
An Urbis waterbowl sits on the left near the main patio, where my clients can enjoy the sound of the bubbling water.
A small patio has been included towards the rear of the garden to provide another place to sit in the garden under the dappled shade of the Plane trees.
