Sutton Bungalow Refurbishment

Concept design for the reconfiguration of a slightly tired looking 5 bedroom bungalow that needed a bit of love and attention.

The client appointed ODDD to provide design options for the existing 1970s building that had undergone a few alterations over the years, had a lot of under-utilised space and did not meet the requirements of the young growing family.

The building had a significant amount of area within its existing footprint but all the bedroom accommodation was on the ground floor. The design proposals completely reconfigured the internal layout by moving all bedrooms to the first floor loft space which had ample room to locate a master suite, bathroom and 2 additional bedrooms. This move allowed the freeing up of space on the ground level for a combined living/dining/kitchen area, separate reception room, a study, large utility room and a further guest bedroom with ensuite.

To the exterior, new roof lights and windows were added and extended to bring light into the home, all existing windows replaced with sleek aluminium framed units and the external walls thermally upgraded with insulated render and larch cladding to the side extension. The new living/kitchen/dining area has large bi-folding and sliding doors that open out into the garden and decking area.

The changes will give the house a new lease of life and provide for the clients needs for many years to come.
