The full amount of prep was done to insure lifespan and only maintenance coats for further work.
All old paint coatings was burned back to bare wood, dry rot was fully removed by routing/cutting out with new wood spliced in with timba build wood epoxy to ensure a full strength and lifetime pf the new ledge
With the heavy epoxy being used on joints and empty areas where wet/dry rot was removed
Then a primer coat applied with small filling in-between and two satin wood finish top coats all compatible and flexible with the epoxy system
