UserOn a quiet street in Clifton a Georgian townhouse has undergone a stunning transformation. Inside, our designer Tim was tasked with creating three functional and inviting bathrooms. A key aspect of the brief was storage, as the bathrooms needed to stand up to every day family life whilst still maintaining the luxury aesthetic of the period property. The family bathroom cleverly conceals a boiler behind soft blue paneling while the shower is enclosed with an innovative frameless sliding screen allowing a large showering space without compromising the openness of the space. The ensuite bathroom with floating sink unit with built in storage and solid surface sink offers both practical storage and easy cleaning. On the top floor a guest shower room houses a generous shower with recessed open shelving and another practical floating vanity unit with integrated sink.

The hall bath for this client started out a little dated with its 1970’s color scheme and general wear and tear, but check out the transformation!
The floor is really the focal point here, it kind of works the same way wallpaper would, but -- it’s on the floor. I love this graphic tile, patterned after Moroccan encaustic, or cement tile, but this one is actually porcelain at a very affordable price point and much easier to install than cement tile.
Once we had homeowner buy-in on the floor choice, the rest of the space came together pretty easily – we are calling it “transitional, Moroccan, industrial.” Key elements are the traditional vanity, Moroccan shaped mirrors and flooring, and plumbing fixtures, coupled with industrial choices -- glass block window, a counter top that looks like cement but that is actually very functional Corian, sliding glass shower door, and simple glass light fixtures.
The final space is bright, functional and stylish. Quite a transformation, don’t you think?

Fabco Sanctuary
Our clients came to us whilst they were in the process of renovating their traditional town-house in North London.
They wanted to incorporate more stylsed and contemporary elements in their designs, while paying homage to the original feel of the architecture.
In early 2015 we were approached by a client who wanted us to design and install bespoke pieces throughout his home.
Many of the rooms overlook the stunning courtyard style garden and the client was keen to have this area displayed from inside his home. In his kitchen-diner he wanted French doors to span the width of the room, bringing in as much natural light from the courtyard as possible. We designed and installed 2 Georgian style double doors and screen sets to this space. On the first floor we designed and installed steel windows in the same style to really give the property the wow factor looking in from the courtyard. Another set of French doors, again in the same style, were added to another room overlooking the courtyard.
The client wanted the inside of his property to be in keeping with the external doors and asked us to design and install a number of internal screens as well. In the dining room we fitted a bespoke internal double door with top panel and, as you can see from the picture, it really suited the space.
In the basement the client wanted a large set of internal screens to separate the living space from the hosting lounge. The Georgian style side screens and internal double leaf doors, accompanied by the client’s installation of a roof light overlooking the courtyard, really help lighten a space that could’ve otherwise been quite dark.
After we finished the work we were asked to come back by the client and install a bespoke steel, single shower screen in his wet room. This really finished off the project… Fabco products truly could be found throughout the property!

The easiest option is to get inspiration from bathroom professionals. However, if you’ve dreamt of a roll-top bath or a walk-in shower with heating at, then you might want to take longer looking for each item individually. Choosing all white elements will obviously tie everything together, but also think about the style you’re going for – ultra modern taps will clash with traditional Victorian-style wash basins. And it’s probably good to consider your flooring or surfaces, and walls to make sure everything will complement. Selecting bathroom decor such as cabinets, mirrors, shelves or other furniture for bathrooms can be tricky. You want to consider the storage they offer while also making sure they make an attractive feature as you enter your bathroom. Don’t forget you need them to be durable and withstand the damp conditions, e.g. if you’re going for a painted cabinet make sure the paint is suitable for baths. Large vanity units will have drawers and compartments to store a great number of toiletries and bathroom necessities, and if your bathroom or cloakroom has room for a built-in cupboard you can start storing small accessories and larger items there. There are actually regulations around what type of light fittings you can use and where – IP67 rating lights for submerged areas e.g. inside baths and sinks (Zone 0); IP65 for any area above a shower or bath (Zone 1); and IP44 rating for anything 0.6m from a bath or basin (Zone 2). After you’ve made sure your light fittings are safe and to-code, you can consider the type and style you’d like as your working through your bathroom ideas. The great thing is that both floor tiles and wall tiles come in a huge variety of sizes, styles, colours and patterns, so you can remodel your room completely with whatever tile choices fit with your bathroom ideas. When it comes to flooring, tiles will be durable, easy to clean and deal well with water, but if you want something different you could go with modern concrete, traditional or country-style treated wooden floorboards, or a bit more quirky bamboo, cork or vinyl. The best small bathroom ideas will maximise the space you have. From installing a bidet to simple decorative tips there are plenty of things you can do to make it look bigger. Recessed shelves can make a huge difference both visually and practically to small bathrooms, so if you are able to have these installed when your walls are being renovated you could add some to your shower or sink area. You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space.
