Bespoke Commission for Roller Blinds
Modern Living Room, London
These blinds were made for a family living space. The clients encouraged Ella to take an artistic approach to the commission, as they imagined the large area of the window front to double as an enormous canvas in the evening. In dialogue with the clients Ella developed a surreal recreational space in which a chicken innocently takes centrestage, a yellow wagtail that lives in the family’s backyard makes an appearance and a ladder insinuates the blissful solitary retreat of a treehouse. In their own words, the clients ‘love the mix of interest and relaxation that emanates from the free-spirited visual narrative and the beautifully balanced colour scheme that ties the disjunct images together.’
