What Makes Teak the Perfect Furniture?
What Makes Teak the Perfect Furniture?
JilliJilli
Teak is a hardwood and thus by its’ very nature is strong and durable, but teak has some unique characteristics that make it extremely special. Imagine a wood that has an immune system of sorts, complete with anti-bug infestation, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial protection. All of these features combined with a beautiful warm pulp that is turned into a piece of one of a kind artwork by nature due to the swirls and veins created by the growth patterns and variances within the wood. Each piece can be sanded and varnished to bring out all the different grain patterns that draw the eye to a particular piece. Teak furniture is very durable due to these natural characteristics and the skilled hands of the craftsman that puts the wood to its’ best use. The beauty of a piece of teak furniture can last for many years even sometimes over the span of generations. This lifespan has caused it to be called heirloom wood by many. Whether it is used to make a dining set, and outdoor patio set, a gazebo, a bench, a swing or any other furniture design you can think of, it will withstand the test of time and the stresses of exposure better than most other materials. Teak is becoming a rare tree in the wild in many areas and is being grown and harvested on farms in order to preserve the longevity of the wild sources. Choosing to purchase teak furniture that is sustainable sourced and well made ensures your furniture will bring you joy for a long time, choosing cheaper furnishings made from less desirable materials is sure to end in disappointment and an overall increase in the amount of money spent. It is better to spend a little more the first time around and avoid having to purchase the same item over and over again. Things are not cheaper when the price is doubled or tripled by a short life span. Teak furniture is sturdy, and can be heavy if there is a lot of wood in a particular design. Other designs are very simple, light and easy to put away where they will need less care and maintenance. No matter what design or style is chosen, teak furniture will need to be treated with some care every once in a while to ensure the finish is kept looking fresh and sun damage is kept at a bare minimum. When given proper care and attention don’t be surprised when you have to hand your teak furniture down to your children and maybe even your grandchildren where it can still be enjoyed. Teak is a unique wood that has long been sought after for its’ beneficial characteristics which make it the perfect choice for your furniture needs. The combination of bug resistance, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties mixed with the beauty and elegance of the wood has made it a constant part of the high-end furnishing industry as well as integrating it into many more budget conscious pieces.
