A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… A returning client wished to create an office environment that would refuel his childhood and current passion: Star Wars. Creating exhibit-style surroundings to incorporate iconic elements from the epic franchise was key to the success for this home office. A life-sized statue of Harrison Ford’s character Han Solo, a longstanding piece of the homeowner’s collection, is now featured in a custom glass display case is the room’s focal point. The glowing backlit pattern behind the statue is a reference to the floor design shown in the scene featuring Han being frozen in carbonite. The command center is surrounded by iconic patterns custom-designed in backlit laser-cut metal panels. The exquisite millwork around the room was refinished, and porcelain floor slabs were cut in a pattern to resemble the chess table found on the legendary spaceship Millennium Falcon. A metal-clad fireplace with a hidden television mounting system, an iridescent ceiling treatment, wall coverings designed to add depth, a custom-designed desk made by a local artist, and an Italian rocker chair that appears to be from a galaxy, far, far, away... are all design elements that complete this once-in-a-galaxy home office that would make any Jedi proud. We named this design the 'Insignia' as to reference the building in Seattle where the original table (and bench set) now reside. The concept for the 'Insignia' table was motivated by minimalist-modern design and inspiration that arose from an admiration for Nakashima-style trestle bases. With our traditional 'Mez Works' style, we used dimensional walnut with a steel stretcher through the center of the tabletop to trace our 'Zeeva' and ‘Martis’ series tables, and the steel is treated with a ‘black-magic patina’ and clear powder-coat finish for an industrial element. The leaf mechanisms are drop leaf supports that are solidly built, structurally stable and sturdy to eliminate sagging. They lock in place automatically when raised, and are simple and quick to release. This design is very versatile, and as shown in the photos the table can be purposed as use for a desk. While folded down, the drop leaf hides a charging outlet that is secured to the base directly under the tabletop, while power is integrated by feeding the cord through the base all the way out through the bottom to a fixed outlet in the floor.

We created this stunning moody library lounge inspired by the client's love of British Cigar Rooms. We used pattern, texture and moody hues to bring out the feel of the library and used the gorgeous Tom Dixon lamp, Restoration Hardware contemporary writing desk, client's gorgeous folk indian painting, and custom cabinetry to give the library/study a very modern yet classical feel!

MARGARITA BRAVOMARGARITA BRAVO
Our Denver studio designed the office area for the Designer Showhouse, and it’s all about female empowerment. Our design language expresses a powerful, well-traveled woman who is also the head of a family and creates subtle, calm strength and harmony. The decor used to achieve the idea is a medley of color, patterns, sleek furniture, and a built-in library that is busy, chaotic, and yet calm and organized. --- Project designed by Denver, Colorado interior designer Margarita Bravo. She serves Denver as well as surrounding areas such as Cherry Hills Village, Englewood, Greenwood Village, and Bow Mar. Five things I learnt from building my own garden room - with Inside Out Oxford
Five things I learnt from building my own garden room - with Inside Out Oxford
Inside Out Oxford Bespoke Garden RoomsInside Out Oxford Bespoke Garden Rooms
Duncan Rourke was one of our first self builders and he's five things he learnt from the experience. 1. I DISCOVERED JUST HOW ENJOYABLE THE BUILDING PROCESS IS… As someone with very limited experience and know-how, I found a new confidence in DIY and learnt useful skills around woodwork and basic construction. 2. YOU DON’T NEED TO SPEND THOUSANDS OF TOOLS TO GET STARTED…. I had basic DIY tools already but used Inside Out Oxford’s heavier duty kit throughout, including a circular saw, nail gun and glue gun. 3. IT’S OK TO ASK FOR HELP… Working with Inside Out Oxford was great fun from start to finish and I consider the build their creation on which I was kindly allowed to labour. Jim and Walt were enthusiastic and experienced guides who were brilliant at solving problems, offering inspirational ideas and being generous collaborators throughout. They understand the added value of creating bespoke designs and offer a personalised self build service. 4. IT WAS EASIER THAN I THOUGHT… I honestly don’t recall any obstacles other than my own availability. I would definitely do it all again and I am delighted with the results of my self build. 5. BUILDING YOUR OWN GARDEN ROOM IS IMMENSELY SATISFYING… I take a lot of satisfaction in knowing that my beautiful garden house is the product of a fun episode in my life. Head to www.insideoutoxford.uk to find out more about our self build service.
