We created a platform at the entry of the bedroom so you could walk into the room at the same level as the rest of the house. Creating this platform allowed easy access to the new home office location and master bathroom. Prior to the remodel you had to walk down the stairs into the bedroom and up more stairs to get into the bathroom. This area is accented by a gorgeous floating pecan desk, open shelving that acts as a decorative railing, and an original brick wall that we discovered during construction. Our client wanted a feminine office space and we ran with it! We went with the Bourdannaise desk, file cabinet and display cabinet in the natural wood from Ballard Designs, added a desk chair and artwork from Uttermost, rug from Home Goods, and chair and ottoman from Bernhardt. All in soft colors and feminine patterns...pretty and serene.

Maria had a lot of books as well a some pieces that she wanted to display so getting the most out of the wall space was very important. We custom built and finished it with our custom special walnut beachy color and it turned out great. We also built a two person desk so that Maria could meet with her clients.

You may not have the luxury of a dedicated room to turn into your country office room or home library, so choose your space wisely to ensure privacy and adequate storage. A carefully designed corner in your living room or an alcove can be made into a productive and stylish study space. Your home office furniture with the desk in the centre of your design, needs to include both work surface space and storage ideas – never underestimate how quickly a computer desk can become cluttered with stationery and box files.
