Cosy up with brown leatherThis photo is actually another angle of the previous room scheme, but it was saved almost as many times and it gives another design lesson in how to use this dark shade. Here, a rich brown leather sofa and inky-toned armchair have been layered up against the wall colour to create a dark and cosy snug in this corner of the room. Painting the picture ledge the same shade as the wall helps it to melt into the background, allowing the artwork to shine, while black metal lights are a similarly subtle choice.
