Nina Williams InteriorsThe reclaimed wood hood draws attention in this large farmhouse kitchen. A pair of reclaimed doors were fitted with antique mirror and were repurposed as pantry doors. Brass lights and hardware add elegance. The island is painted a contrasting gray and is surrounded by rope counter stools. The ceiling is clad in pine tounge- in -groove boards to create a rich rustic feeling. In the coffee bar the brick from the family room bar repeats, to created a flow between all the spaces.
My Bespoke RoomThis kitchen's white-washed walls and smooth polished concrete floor make this a truly contemporary space. The challenge was to ensure that it also then felt homely and comfortable so we added brick slips as a feature wall on the kitchen side which adds a lovely warmth and texture to the room. The dark blue kitchen units also ground the kitchen in the space and are a striking contrast against the concrete floor.
The glazing stretches the entire width of the property to maximise the views of the garden.

Bilotta Kitchen & HomeThis expansive traditional kitchen by senior designer, Randy O'Kane and Architect, Clark Neuringer, features Bilotta Collection cabinet in a custom color. Randy says, the best part about working with this client was that she loves design – and not just interior but she also loves holiday decorating and she has a beautiful sense of aesthetic (and does everything to the nines). For her kitchen she wanted a barn-like feel and it absolutely had to be functional because she both bakes and cooks for her family and neighbors every day. And as the mother of four teenage girls she has a lot of people coming in and out of her home all the time. She wanted her kitchen to be comfortable – not untouchable and not too “done”. When she first met with Bilotta senior designer Randy O’Kane, her #1 comment was: “I’m experiencing white kitchen fatigue”. So right from the start finding the perfect color was the prime focus. The challenge was infusing a center hall colonial with a sense of warmth, comfort and that barn aesthetic without being too rustic which is why they went with a straight greenish grey paint vs. something distressed. The flooring, by Artisan Wood floors, looks reclaimed with its wider long planks and fumed finish. The barn door separating the laundry room and the kitchen was made from hand selected barn wood, made custom according to the client’s detailed specifications, and hung with sliding hardware. The kitchen hardware was really a window sash pull from Rocky Mountain that was repurposed as handles in a living bronze finish mounted horizontally. Glazed brick tile, by Ann Sacks, really helped to embrace the overall concept. Since a lot of parties are hosted out of that space, the kitchen, and butler’s pantry off to the side, needed a good flow as well as areas to bake and stage the creations. Double ovens were a must as well as a 48” Wolf Range and a Rangecraft hood – four ovens are going all the time. Beverage drawers were added to allow others to flow through the kitchen without disturbing the cook. Lots of storage was added for a well-stocked kitchen. A unique detail is double door wall cabinets, some with wire mesh to allow to see their dishes for easy access. In the butler’s pantry, instead of mesh they opted for antique mirror glass fronts. Countertops are a natural quartzite for care free use and a solid wood table, by Brooks Custom, extends of the island, removable for flexibility, making the kitchen and dining area very functional. One of the client’s antique pieces (a hutch) was incorporated into the kitchen to give it a more authentic look as well as another surface to decorate and provide storage. The lighting over the island and breakfast table has exposed Edison bulbs which hearkens to that “barn” lighting. For the sinks, they used a fireclay Herbeau farmhouse on the perimeter and an undermount Rohl sink on the island. Faucets are by Waterworks. Standing back and taking it all in it’s a wonderful collaboration of carefully designed working space and a warm gathering space for family and guests. Fireclay TilePattern and texture beautifully balance this modern great room. The vertical white brick kitchen backsplash plays off the lively green hexagon on the island countertop and the dark scalene triangle tile on the fireplace.

UserLe richieste di Francesco per la sua cucina non erano molte. In pratica voleva un tavolo da pranzo per ospitare 2/4 persone, un frigo e congelatore capienti, lo spazio per la tv. E doveva avere il piano a induzione perché l'appartamento è di nuova costruzione.
Prima di proporgli una soluzione di arredo, mi sono riservata del tempo con Francesco per capire cosa abitualmente fa e cosa si aspetta di poter fare in una cucina. Ho approfondito le sue esigenze attuali e mi sono fatta un'idea delle sue necessità future. Ed ho capito che, senza verbalizzarle, Francesco aveva bisogno di molto altro. Aveva bisogno di molto spazio contenitivo e di tanta illuminazione; la cucina doveva essere facile da pulire e fatta di materiale resistente, soprattutto il piano di lavoro doveva assolutamente essere di facile manutenzione. Siccome è un ragazzo giovane e con gusti moderni, il forno doveva essere assolutamente alto e il materiale di lavello e rubinetti doveva essere adatto ad un uso "senza troppe cerimonie" e, aggiungo io, in nuance con il top e i colori di basi e pensili. Infine, aveva assolutamente bisogno di uno spazio che fungesse da sgabuzzino per mettere i prodotti della pulizia e l'aspirapolvere.
Lo spazio di questa cucina rettangolare, con due ante a battente come finestra, è ampio.
Gli ho proposto una cucina bicolor, con basi di qualche tonalità più scura rispetto ai pensili. Piano di lavoro in materiale super resistente multicolor ma con tutte le tonalità presenti in cucina. Lavello e rubinetto in nuance, anch'essi in materiale resistente e facile da pulire. Luci sottopensili per tutta la lunghezza e cappa a scomparsa. Ampi cesti scorrevoli molto contenitivi, anche nelle basi ad angolo. Doppia colonna per forno, frigorifero con congelatore e spazio ad uno "sgabuzzino" per aspirapolvere e prodotti pulizia. Sotto al lavello, ampio e comodo spazio per la raccolta differenziata.
L'illuminazione è completata da un lampadario originalissimo con più punti luce direzionati verso lo spazio tecnico e verso il tavolo da pranzo.
Il tavolo da pranzo è allungabile mediante un meccanismo semplice e funzionale. Completano l'arredo le 4 sedie in materiale leggero e resistente, bicolor, abbinate a coppia.
AL posto del rivestimento verticale in classiche piastrelle, ho optato per una pittura super lavabile di una tonalità di verde, con sfumature metalliche/iridescenti, protetta da vernice idonea al locale, che dona all'ambiente calore e particolarità, oltre ad essere in nuance con i colori presenti nel living adiacente.
