The new open-plan kitchen and living room have a sloped roof extension with skylights and large bi-folding doors. We designed the kitchen bespoke to our client's individual requirements with 6 seats at a large double sides island, a large corner pantry unit and a hot water tap. Off this space, there is also a utility room. The seating area has a three-seater and a two-seater sofa which both recline. There is also still space to add a dining table if the client wishes in the future.

This family of four had maxed out the existing space in their 1948 brick colonial. We designed and built a three-story addition along the back of the house, adding 380 square feet at each level. On the main floor, the addition provided for an expansive kitchen with an island and family room with better views of the wooded lot. The family room has sliding doors to a new deck. This level also has a new powder room and mudroom to an existing side entry that previously opened to the original galley kitchen.

They say that first impressions count. When three sibling homeowners visited the CRL Stone showroom for inspiration for their kitchen renovation and spotted CRL Quartz Palermo, there was an instant attraction. And now that the surface is fitted in the completed room, it’s the first thing people notice when they visit. The project in question was a bungalow extension, with an open-plan kitchen diner. With the aim of creating a modern space that looked and felt bigger, the homeowners called in their son/nephew and owner of Jones Developments Ryan, to project manage the refurb. And the family affair didn’t stop there, with Ryan’s wife Demi on hand to help supply their dream kitchen through her role at Howdens Burnley, his in laws from Stewkley Stone recommending, supplying and fabricating the CRL Quartz surfaces and Ryan’s brother-in-laws Ewan & Harrison taking care of the installation. Choosing a quartz surface was an important element of the design, with the homeowners keen to opt for a surface that worked well with the new furniture in Fairford Pebble. “The colours work perfectly together and the rusty orange veining adds an ideal colour to the kitchen to make it look very classy and elegant,” comments Ryan. In fact, it was the colour of the veining that attracted the siblings to CRL Quartz Palermo as soon as they saw it. The crisp white background is the perfect backdrop for the bold veining, that adds instant character and an eye-catching level of detail. “It’s something of a marmite choice to many, but we’re so happy we went with it. Being able to vein match the surface just adds to the sense of flow within the large space. The result is a very modern looking kitchen, with lots of space and storage,” Ryan explains. Easy on the eye, installation of the surfaces was straightforward too, with all the fabrication done in advance to ensure the perfect, seamless fit. Quartz is the perfect choice for a busy family life on a practical level too, being water, heat, scratch and stain resistant and with no requirement for sealing at any stage. Palermo’s bold marble-inspired veining lends itself so well to being vein matched that Stewkley Stone were only too happy to oblige, despite the request not being part of the original brief for the project. “The finished look is very elegant and classy, with the colour of the kitchen doors perfectly complementing the veining of Palermo,” comments Ryan. With quirky features including a Quooker tap and pull-out accessories to future-proof the space, the comfort levels are high in the completed kitchen. But the homeowners’ favourite element of the new look? “100% the quartz; it’s the first thing you see when you enter the room,” concludes Ryan.

The Harris Kitchen uses our slatted cabinet design which draws on contemporary shaker and vernacular country but with a modern rustic feel. This design lends itself beautifully to both freestanding or fitted furniture and can be used to make a wide range of freestanding pieces such as larders, dressers and islands. This Kitchen is made from English Character Oak and custom finished with a translucent sage coloured Hard Wax Oil which we mixed in house, and has the effect of a subtle wash of colour without detracting from the character, tonal variations and warmth of the wood. This is a brilliant hardwearing, natural and breathable finish which is water and stain resistant, food safe and easy to maintain. The slatted cabinet design was originally inspired by old vernacular freestanding kitchen furniture such as larders and meat safes with their simple construction and good airflow which helped store food and provisions in a healthy and safe way, vitally important before refrigeration. These attributes are still valuable today although rarely used in modern cabinetry, and the Slat Cabinet series does this with very narrow gaps between the slats in the doors and cabinet sides. Emily & Greg commissioned this kitchen for their beautiful old thatched cottage in Warwickshire. The kitchen it was replacing was out dated, didn't use the space well and was not fitted sympathetically to the space with its old uneven walls and low beamed ceilings. A carefully considered cupboard and drawer layout ensured we maximised their storage space, increasing it from before, whilst opening out the space and making it feel less cramped. The cabinets are made from Oak veneered birch and poplar core ply with solid oak frames, panels and doors. The main cabinet drawers are dovetailed and feature Pippy/Burr Oak fronts with Sycamore drawer boxes, whilst the two Larders have slatted Oak crate drawers for storage of vegetables and dry goods, along with spice racks shelving and automatic concealed led lights. The wall cabinets and shelves also have a continuous strip of dotless led lighting concealed under the front edge, providing soft light on the worktops.

Set within an airy contemporary extension to a lovely Georgian home, the Siatama Kitchen is our most ambitious project to date. The client, a master cook who taught English in Siatama, Japan, wanted a space that spliced together her love of Japanese detailing with a sophisticated Scandinavian approach to wood. At the centre of the deisgn is a large island, made in solid british elm, and topped with a set of lined drawers for utensils, cutlery and chefs knifes. The 4-post legs of the island conform to the 寸 (pronounced ‘sun’), an ancient Japanese measurement equal to 3cm. An undulating chevron detail articulates the lower drawers in the island, and an open-framed end, with wood worktop, provides a space for casual dining and homework. A full height pantry, with sliding doors with diagonally-wired glass, and an integrated american-style fridge freezer, give acres of storage space and allow for clutter to be shut away. A plant shelf above the pantry brings the space to life, making the most of the high ceilings and light in this lovely room.

Nobilia Kitchen in Angmering, West Sussex This kitchen design and installation is a recently rephotographed project that took place in Angmering, West Sussex. The design of this kitchen has been optimised to suit its location within the house and importantly the customer’s brief, which was to create a space that was social, spacious, homely and a sweeping link between the centre of the home and the garden. An impressive addition to this kitchen is the beautiful copper accents which represent a growing trend in kitchen design at the moment. Thanks to a number of impressive kitchen copper additions this theme is cleverly combined within kitchen appliances and design features. Kitchen Furniture The kitchen furniture used for this project is from one of our German supplier Nobilia’s most premium ranges: Lux. The Lux range is aptly named. Its composition utilises a quality lacquer which creates a flawless high-gloss finish and is extremely durable when usual kitchen use is inflicted. The gloss effect Lux range was chosen to reflect the client’s wish of a light kitchen space, with the gloss door fronts bouncing light around the room to create shimmering kitchen space. The two colour choices Satin Grey and Slate Grey combine perfectly with the use of copper accents, bringing balance to the space. A key feature of this kitchen space is the media area which has been highlighted and surrounded by luxurious glazed glass units and deep pan drawers for storage, which themselves have been upgraded throughout the kitchen to glass sided uprights for extra strength and style. Kitchen Appliances Along with kitchen furniture and cabinetry, careful selection of kitchen appliances were chosen for this kitchen not just to match the overall style but to match the necessary daily uses of the customer. The large bank of tall units houses not only cooking appliances, but integrated refrigeration and freezing appliances integrated seamlessly into the furniture. This bank features three ovens from cooking enthusiast inspired manufacturer Neff, in the form of two Slide&Hide single ovens and a Slide&Hide combination microwave oven. The fourth appliance in this appliance grid is a wine cabinet from manufacturer CDA which enables the powerful cooling of up to twenty-four Bordeaux wine bottles. On the longest run of units in this kitchen a Siemens IQ700 induction hob features in the unique stainless-steel finish, which is not only a stylish and in keeping appliance, it offers several innovative features like intuitive touchSlider operation, flexible induction zone cooking and fryingSensor technology. The most stylish appliance in this kitchen however, is undoubtedly the beautiful Elica Dolce cooker hood, which not only harnesses powerful extraction of cooking fumes but continues the classy copper theme further throughout this kitchen. Kitchen Features & Accessories To meet the brief of the customer this kitchen had to be functional, meaning clever storage solutions are included throughout this kitchen. An example of this is the pull-out Dispensa storage from Kesseböhmer which feature either side of the main bank of appliances and enable a small amount of space to harbour useful storage capacity. A Quooker flex boiling tap is used above a Blanco undermounted Silgranite sink which makes a safe boiling water supply accessible from the same faucet as usual cold and warm water. As part of the installation of this project our electrical team have installed copper pendant lighting centrally above the island, increasing the ability for this kitchen to work as a social space with touch flip plug sockets used in several places for easy access to power. Our Gas Safe registered team have also installed a full-height radiator which is shown in a contemporary grey shade matching the kitchen colour scheme. Nobilia Kitchen in Angmering, West Sussex This kitchen boasts so many desirable kitchen features in one space, with the design making the most of every inch of space to fit the initial brief of the customer. In Summer days the kitchen flows out to the large garden through expansive bi-fold doors which show the full beauty of this kitchen design and installation. In many ways this kitchen epitomises the type of work we are able to undertake, using our various fully employed tradespeople to complete plumbing, electrical, carpentry and flooring work. If you have been inspired by this project then let us know, we offer a free design & quote service for kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms and can even undertake internal building work as part of our comprehensive offering. A SLEEK & STYLISH DARK GREY KITCHEN WITH CONTEMPORARY DESIGN ELEMENTS, MADE FOR FAMILY LIVING. Our clients were transforming their home into a sociable space for their family of five, so they wanted their kitchen to fit seamlessly into this plan. They socialise often so it was important to create a large open plan kitchen, and a showstopping island was a must! To create this contemporary kitchen we used the Soft Lack design from our German Nolte range, in the colour Graphite. We chose two worksurfaces; Classic Quartz in Alaska Bianca and Caesarstone in Flannel Grey. The concrete effect wrap around worksurface on the island end creates a focal point from the garden and allows for some additional storage. The sleek black top-trim handles and Oak detailing add a real sense of luxury to this design. Storage solutions such as the pantry-style larder and drawer units make the kitchen user-friendly for daily family life.

This stunning extension was created to house a beautiful light and airy living space, encompassing a modern true handleless kitchen, dining area for entertaining guests and a snug for their dog to cuddle up with on the sofa and look over the expansive garden. The dark grey matt swirl tall units with the light grey swirl base units are a fantastic combination of sleek and style. The custom-made drinks cabinet features a Neff wine cooler, wine racks, a quartz worktop beautifully wrapped up to make a splashback, and an open shelf to display glasses. You cannot help but notice the expansive peninsula unit with waterfall edge, which not only is packed full of useful components including the Franke Stainless Steel Sink and Minerva 3 in 1 Boiling Water Tap, but doubles up as a breakfast bar and study area with a Chameleon S-Box charging point buried at one end. In the centre of the light grey are the tall dark grey swirl cupboards, holding a double set of Neff Slide & Hide Oven. One has a top combination microwave oven above and the other a stand alone compact oven. The oven stacks are then bookended by a Neff Fridge-Freezer and a full height food pantry. From here the units wrap around to the inner wall and create the perfect space for the Neff Induction Hob and Neff Telescopic Extractor Hood. Full Quartz splashbacks and another waterwall edge complete the sleek and stylish feel to this kitchen and living space. The perfect place to entertain friends and family, by cooking up a storm in the ovens and serving the perfect cocktail from the drinks cabinets! Relax. Entertain. Eat. Enjoy.

The original galley kitchen on the main level of this rowhouse was cut off from the living and dining spaces. We removed two brick walls to bring natural light into the kitchen and connect it to the other rooms. The kitchen has whitewall shaker-style cabinets and a pale gray island base. A wall of shallow cabinets provides additional storage. We angled the door that leads to the basement for easier access. Large wood and metal pendants add a dramatic touch to the room.

In this house we reconfigured the downstairs space, creating an open plan porch/hall area, downstairs guest and shower room for when elderly parents stay. A lounge beautiful large lounge that opens up into the lovely large kitchen diner which overlooks the back garden. We used a light yet warm and inviting colour pallet, introducing darker pieces of furniture and/or accessories to add depth and anchor the larger spaces. Since completing the design the family have received a number of guests who's immediate thoughts were that the client had extended the property; however, this perception of additional space had been achieved through the reconfiguration of the ground floor, the colour pallet, use of materials and the clever layout throughout. The kitchen was designed to enable all 3 family members to spend time in the kitchen, cooking, baking and relaxing. We collaborated with the client and the kitchen company to create a large walk in pantry to store dry produce and large kitchen appliances, The quoker tap enables us to keep the worktop kettle free.
