Create a 2 bedroom, modern and light home from an unusual layout
with limited opportunity for windows.
Our Solution
Most projects have constraints, they can be financial, timing, legal or practical. Current planning regulations enable us to turn some commercial premises into useful homes but you are not allowed to alter the exterior. This is a challenge (we accept) and ultimately leads to some interesting spaces.
When we cannot alter windows, or add them exactly where needed, we seek other ways to bring in light and make spaces habitable. This was the defining constraint of this scheme along with the long, thin site footprint.
We have created a 2 bedroom unit with excellent living space and a courtyard for light and amenity, it's gone from a dark and odd-shaped shop to a really alluring residence…….
