H Brettell & Sons Ltd - This picturesque grade two listed town house in a fashionable area of north London needed a new staircase and handrail to link the upper floors. The stairs and handrail had to be in keeping with the age and style of the property but a small landing had to be added to the new stairs to comply with building regulations.
Once the new stair had been installed the existing handrail was married with the new to give the appearance of always having been there. Various other parts of the handrail were repaired or replaced before being stripped and French polished. The result was to restore the complete staircase to its original splendour while keeping as much of the original components as possible.
