Iroquois Drive, Clarendon Hills IL
Traditional Kitchen, Chicago
In a historic Clarendon Hills, IL home, this traditional kitchen used the same 2 original walls but added the missing function and style. Rich cherry cabinetry was chosen, in a traditional arched door style. The height was adjusted so that the space would not feel overwhelmed, and to leave room for a detailed crown. Visual interest was added by running the granite right up the wall. This neutral background allows the cherry cabinets to take center stage.
These small L shape kitchens can be a storage nightmare, but with the addition of the peninsula we added more storage, great counter space, and a seating area. The petite island fits the center perfectly, adds a great new workspace, and gives us a focal point when viewed from the other living areas. This is a classic update that will always be in style.
