This new construction home tells a story through it’s clean lines and alluring details. Our clients, a young family moving from the city, wanted to create a timeless home for years to come. Working closely with the builder and our team, their dream home came to life. Key elements include the large island, black accents, tile design and eye-catching fixtures throughout. This project will always be one of our favorites.

We took a dark dated kitchen and turned it into a modern bright space that makes cooking at home a pleasure again. While we didn’t change the layout, we were able to get additional space by adding a dry bar and accessible lower corner cabinets, which were previously unusable. The lower oak laminate cabinets help to ground the space and compliment to upper matte white cabinets. We used gold/brass and green accents throughout which coordinate well with the hardwood floors and the new cabinetry. We extended the peninsula countertop to create a functional breakfast bar and work space. By adding LED under-cabinet lights, we brightened up the work space. And the addition of the 2 modern Japanese green glass pendants with its soothing design creates a calm zen atmosphere. We also updated the look of the nearly living room fireplace by matching the mantle to the countertops and the hearth to the backsplash to tie into the look helping to visually bring the rooms together. Overall it’s now fresh, light and airy. Fully transformed.

This Kitchen in Milton, Georgia is a Kitchen Lover’s Dream! The floor to ceiling Waypoint Cabinetry in Linen finish offer a vast array of storage solutions. Additional storage can be located in the kitchen island which is a great feature for working, eating or conversing with family and friends. In a wonderful Tudor 30’s home there was a tiny kitchen, a tiny laundry and a tiny breakfast nook enclosed by walls. We removed all the walls and reframed the load bearing beams to convert these tiny little spaces into one large kitchen with many windows for a bright feeling, another wall was removed to connect the kitchen space to the dining and living room creating a great semi-open space. Classical shaker cabinets with a pewter accent island combined with the warmth of the bamboo flooring and the wooded floating shelves made this kitchen feel like it was always there. Modern gold pulls, plumbing fixtures and pendant light combined with the Viking range give this kitchen a high end feeling.

KitchenLab InteriorsKitchenLab Interiors
KitchenLab Interiors’ first, entirely new construction project in collaboration with GTH architects who designed the residence. KLI was responsible for all interior finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and design including the stairs, casework, interior doors, moldings and millwork. KLI also worked with the client on selecting the roof, exterior stucco and paint colors, stone, windows, and doors. The homeowners had purchased the existing home on a lakefront lot of the Valley Lo community in Glenview, thinking that it would be a gut renovation, but when they discovered a host of issues including mold, they decided to tear it down and start from scratch. The minute you look out the living room windows, you feel as though you're on a lakeside vacation in Wisconsin or Michigan. We wanted to help the homeowners achieve this feeling throughout the house - merging the causal vibe of a vacation home with the elegance desired for a primary residence. This project is unique and personal in many ways - Rebekah and the homeowner, Lorie, had grown up together in a small suburb of Columbus, Ohio. Lorie had been Rebekah's babysitter and was like an older sister growing up. They were both heavily influenced by the style of the late 70's and early 80's boho/hippy meets disco and 80's glam, and both credit their moms for an early interest in anything related to art, design, and style. One of the biggest challenges of doing a new construction project is that it takes so much longer to plan and execute and by the time tile and lighting is installed, you might be bored by the selections of feel like you've seen them everywhere already. “I really tried to pull myself, our team and the client away from the echo-chamber of Pinterest and Instagram. We fell in love with counter stools 3 years ago that I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on, thank god, because then they started showing up literally everywhere", Rebekah recalls. Lots of one of a kind vintage rugs and furnishings make the home feel less brand-spanking new. The best projects come from a team slightly outside their comfort zone. One of the funniest things Lorie says to Rebekah, "I gave you everything you wanted", which is pretty hilarious coming from a client to a designer.

Inspired by Cape styles, this new Natick client desired an updated look with a better traffic pattern that was more open with smarter storage. By removing the peninsula, island seating reduced their sons fighting because now they weren’t competing for stools. They also fulfilled their dream of a coffee bar. The stove, backsplash and attractive hood are now a beautiful focal point from the family room view. They worked with our partner, Amany Design Studio, to select a clean, seamless look. This busy family now has a hidden command central and charging station. Custom-designed, pull-out shelving created organization and maximum storage within the new cabinets.

Just because a kitchen has white cabinets, countertops and backsplash does not mean it has to be bland! This homeowner went for the classic look throughout their kitchen with a beautiful painted white raised panel door and five piece drawer fronts. The decorative wood hood, gorgeous marble countertops and white backsplash compliment the overall feel of the space. Glass inserts flanking the hood and simple lighting complete the main portion of the kitchen. A fun surprise is concealed behind the glass pantry doors, where the client opted to add color and print - we love the use of this fun accent in a way that shows their personality, while being easy to change if they want to select a new accent color for the space. This small galley kitchen was updated with clean white cabinetry, marble look countertops, white subway tile and dark hardware. Floating shelves on the range wall make a bold statement with their rich brown stain and black hardware, while being used to store the homeowners crisp white dishes. The most was made of this small space by adding a small seating area at the bay window along with a decorative hutch with glass. For a single woman working in downtown San Francisco, we were tasked with remodeling her 500 sq.ft. Victorian garden condo. We brought in more light by enlarging most of the openings to the rear and adding a sliding glass door in the kitchen. The kitchen features custom zebrawood cabinets, CaesarStone counters, stainless steel appliances and a large, deep square sink. The bathroom features a wall-hung Duravit vanity and toilet, recessed lighting, custom, built-in medicine cabinets and geometric glass tile. Wood tones in the kitchen and bath add a note of warmth to the clean modern lines. We designed a soft blue custom desk/tv unit and white bookshelves in the living room to make the most out of the space available. A modern JØTUL fireplace stove heats the space stylishly. We replaced all of the Victorian trim throughout with clean, modern trim and organized the ducts and pipes into soffits to create as orderly look as possible with the existing conditions.
