Réalisation d’une cuisine aménagée, entièrement sur mesure, à la demande d’investisseurs particuliers du Choletais dans le Maine et Loire. Un projet mené de la conception à la pose. Une fois les différentes fonctionnalités et les contraintes d’aménagement et de circulation validées par les clients, l’agence a pu faire différentes propositions. Le choix s’est porté sur une structure de caisson en contreplaqué de peuplier, déjà employé pour la réalisation du buffet Skab. Toutes les portes et les tiroirs s’habillent d’un placage stratifié rouge vif et tonique, couleur des huisseries de l’habitation. La cuisine propose une vue sur la verrière et le jardin, à l’arrière de l’habitation. Les grandes zones de plan de travail, l’emplacement pour deux réfrigérateurs/congélateurs, les deux plaques de cuisson en îlot central et une grande table conviviale dans la continuité de cet îlot ont séduit les clients. Ce grand espace ainsi aménagé est pratique et convivial pour les huit colocataires du logement situé en centre-ville de Cholet !

The client requested a pop of colour in their kitchen while also wanting to capture the natural rustic look of the wood throughout the home. We designed and built a custom island in oak finished in a stunning red stain. The natural grains and colours of the solid birch butcher's block on the island does a great job of toning down this bright piece; bringing it together with this rest of this space. The remaining cabinets have been made from solid birch and have been stained in Peppercorn, a beautiful brown-grey colour. The combination is absolutely stunning and adds the perfect rustic charm to this home.

However, if the layout doesn’t work, especially if you have a small kitchen, then there’s no necessity to add in a kitchen island. You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Next you can consider kitchen cabinet style and colour. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage.
