Notting Hill Flat
Contemporary Kitchen, London
The kitchen combines the general walnut theme with a subtle grey-blue our clients chose for the base units. The convex curve to the walnut base unit in the foreground is designed around the swing of the large glazed room door which opens through 180º, stowing out of view against the wall adjacent. White back-painted low-iron glass splashbacks and sliding doors relate to the flecked white ‘quartz’ of the main countertop, balancing the relatively dark cabinets. The clients’ choice of a multi-patterned and
-scaled ceramic floor tile gives the design a lively, practical base. Their wish to avoid large wall units and to use concealed LED lighting strips extensively enhances the feeling of space.
