This ultra feminine nursery in a Brooklyn boutique condo is a relaxing and on-trend space for baby girl. An accent wall with statement floral wallpaper becomes the focal point for the understated mid-century, two-toned crib. A soft white rattan mirror hangs above to break up the wall of oversized blooms and sweet honeybees. A handmade mother-of-pearl inlaid dresser feels at once elegant and boho, along with the whitewashed wood beaded chandelier. To add to the boho style, a natural rattan rocker with gauze canopy sits upon a moroccan bereber rug. Mustard yellow accents and the tiger artwork complement the honeybees perfectly and balance out the feminine pink, mauve and coral tones.

I designed a nursery for first time parents expecting a baby boy. The room had an existing painted brick wall which became my inspiration. I kept the pallette neutral with soft greys, washed woods, linens and added some hints of pale blue. The soft details in the furniture and curves of the chair create such a sweet spot in the room. My main pop of color was orange inspired by the artwork. Functionally, I added storage galore to accomodate overflow from the parents room and enough to hold all things baby. We love this crib with the border detail and its washed grey wood finish. We added some pale blue touches with the bedding and the rug. The round silohuette of the rocking chair brings so much softness. The felt ball mobile adds texture and playful character against the brick wall. Closets for critical storage and the black vase, ground the room.

As well as being soothing for a baby, your choice of nursery decor and nursery furniture should make this a relaxing space where you may have to spend some sleepless nights. While you’re picking out nursery ideas for cots and changing tables, look for comfortable seating for you, too; a nursery rocking chair can be as important an addition as a baby bouncer, and we bet you’ll hang on to it long afterward.
