Remember the gorgeous Scandinavian-style kitchen transformation we completed for the Ferguson family recently? We promised we would be sharing more, and here it is! In addition to the über cool modern kitchen, the team at Kitchen Craftsmen also worked to create an outdoor space perfect for entertaining, from summer BBQs to winter nights enjoying a wine. Using distinctive Polytec ‘Black Wenge Matt’ for the doors, and the same durable Polytec ‘Graphite Grey Createc’ cabinetry that was used throughout the kitchen, this alfresco kitchen is perfect for even the messiest BBQ king. This spacious modern courtyard utilises moody colours to create an air of sophistication. The inclusion of laser cut pergola, off form concrete bbq bench & large format porcelain tiles add to the contemporary feel. The planting palette is lush and textured with the deep greens balancing the tonal colours used in the retaining walls and screens. The Forest Pansy feature tree was selected to provide seasonal interest from both its foliage and flowers. The brief called for multiple entertaining spaces we designed spaces for dining, informal lounging & space where guests can congregate. Whether relaxing on the bench seat or gathering around the BBQ this courtyard is made for entertaining. Photography Peter Brennan

Heartbeat House transforms a modest Victorian cottage into a welcoming, multi-generational home centred on family and wellbeing. Our clients wanted a space that fosters social gatherings while ensuring privacy for their family of four, including our client's live-in mother. The home balances openness and togetherness, blending indoor and outdoor experiences seamlessly. The original cottage houses bedrooms, bathrooms and multi-use spaces, transitioning to a modern extension featuring soft Victorian Ash cabinetry, a double-vaulted ceiling, and large windows that open to lush, landscaped gardens. The private garden sanctuary, elevated above street level, creates a suburban oasis, designed in collaboration with Saint Remy. Inside, custom joinery ensures thoughtful storage, making communal spaces versatile. A hidden study nook and bar transition easily from work to play. The materials palette features lime-washed Victorian Ash timber, polished concrete floors, and Australian-sourced materials, balancing softness with strength. The result is a harmonious home where multiple generations can live together, with flexible spaces for socializing and retreat. Heartbeat House celebrates meaningful togetherness, offering a peaceful and functional suburban escape.
