Axis Mundi
This NoHo apartment, in a landmarked circa 1870 building designed by Stephen Decatur Hatch and converted to lofts in 1987, had been interestingly renovated by a rock musician before being purchased by a young hedge fund manager and his gallery director girlfriend. Naturally, the couple brought to the project their collection of painting, photography and sculpture, mostly by young emerging artists. Axis Mundi accommodated these pieces within a neutral palette accented with occasional flashes of bright color that referenced the various artworks. Major furniture pieces – a sectional in the library, a 12-foot-long dining table–along with a rich blend of textures such as leather, linen, fur and warm woods, helped bring the sprawling dimensions of the loft down to human scale.

Shingle Style on the Bay
The lovely site on Moriches Bay in Westhampton offered this family from New York City an opportunity to create a relaxing and active compound for relatives and friends. Recalling gracious seaside living in the early 20th century, the Shingle Style was ideal for this new 6,200 square-foot residence. Porches grace the waterside elevation; terraces lead out to the pool and are adjacent to the kitchen as well. A second-floor porch off the master bedroom invites lounging, and built-ins and window seats encourage reading and chatting. Indoor and easily accessed outdoor spaces draw family members and friends together in informal gatherings around the pool, living room and large kitchen. The site also includes a new two-bedroom, 1,500 square-foot guest house and tennis courts.

This salvaged kitchen sink was found awhile ago by the client who new she wanted to use it if ever she renovated. Integrated beautifully into the Danby marble countertop and backsplash with new fixtures it is a real joy to clean up.
This kitchen was formerly a dark paneled, cluttered, divided space with little natural light. By eliminating partitions and creating an open floorplan, as well as adding modern windows with traditional detailing, providing lovingly detailed built-ins for the clients extensive collection of beautiful dishes, and lightening up the color palette we were able to create a rather miraculous transformation.

We gave this modern New York City loft a customized interior design. We wanted the space to be eye-catching yet elegant and uncluttered, so we focused on the unique walls and lighting. The walls are dressed in a custom plaster from Serpentine Studio, which so perfectly matches the Stone Source countertops. Glistening white flat panel cabinets and a glazed backsplash contrast beautifully with the matte gray color palette. Finally, we added in subtle metallic accents through the pendant lighting and Suite NY bar stools.

A casual banquette we designed to fit seamlessly in this trendy New York City loft. With mostly cool gray textiles, we added in touches of lavender and crisp white for visual intrigue and added brightness. The modern glass table is one of the most unique aspects, with a silver metallic base, adding in an artistic touch.

A sensitive remodelling of a Victorian warehouse apartment in Clerkenwell. The design juxtaposes historic texture with contemporary interventions to create a rich and layered dwelling.
Our clients' brief was to reimagine the apartment as a warm, inviting home while retaining the industrial character of the building.
We responded by creating a series of contemporary interventions that are distinct from the existing building fabric. Each intervention contains a new domestic room: library, dressing room, bathroom, ensuite and pantry. These spaces are conceived as independent elements, lined with bespoke timber joinery and ceramic tiling to create a distinctive atmosphere and identity to each.

The Broome Street Loft is a beautiful example of a classic Soho loft conversion. The design highlights its historic architecture of the space while integrating modern elements. The 14-foot-high tin ceiling, metal Corinthian columns and iconic brick wall are contrasted with clean lines and modern profiles, creating a captivating dialogue between the old and the new.
The plan was completely revised: the bedroom was shifted to the side area to combine the living room and kitchen spaces into a larger, open plan space. The bathroom and laundry also shifted to a more efficient layout, which both widened the main living space and created the opportunity to add a new Powder Room. The high ceilings allowed for the creation of a new storage space above the laundry and bathroom, with a sleek, modern stair to provide access.
The kitchen seamlessly blends modern detailing with a vintage style. An existing recess in the brick wall serves as a focal point for the relocated Kitchen with the addition of custom bronze, steel and glass shelves. The kitchen island anchors the space, and the knife-edge stone countertop and custom metal legs make it feel more like a table than a built-in piece.
The bathroom features the brick wall which runs through the apartment, creating a uniquely Soho experience. The cove lighting throughout creates a bright interior space, and the white and grey tones of the tile provide a neutral counterpoint to the red brick. The space has beautiful stone accents, such as the custom-built tub deck, shower, vanity, and niches.

This 4,500-square-foot Soho Loft, a conjoined space on two floors of a converted Manhattan warehouse, was renovated and fitted with our custom cabinetry—making it a special project for us. We designed warm and sleek wood cabinetry and casework—lining the perimeter and opening up the rooms, allowing light and movement to flow freely deep into the space. The use of a translucent wall system and carefully designed lighting were key, highlighting the casework and accentuating its clean lines.
