Contemporary Living Room, Manchester

The house which had been lived in for the past 60 years by the same family was in serious need of modernization in order to evolve into a contemporary home fitting of the clients lifestyle. Despite similar attributes to the couples previous home, the new house was much larger and the lack of modernization over the years meant more of the cottages period features had remained. The interplay of these traditional components with the contemporary interventions of space formed the essential aesthetic theme to the new home. We opted to create two nodal points throughout the property, one in the attic which turned a redundant space into a spectacular master bedroom and en suite, and the other in the basement which created a lively living and entertainment space.
