“We were introduced to A Space Architects by some friends who had used them for a major extension to their period property. A Space had been responsible for both the design and the build of the project. We liked what we saw and our friends strongly recommended A Space/Jamie Ashton for both the architectural and build aspects. Over quite an extended period we worked through an exchange of ideas and ultimately arrived at a design for a complete redesign (virtual rebuild) of our house that perfectly meets what we set out to achieve – and I have to say that we would not have arrived at the end design without the ideas, responsiveness and expertise of Jamie. We retained Jamie / A Space to handle the build with us directly paying for the build team and materials. This approach is less common than the more usual “all in” price for a build project but we found it to be very satisfactory as it gives total clarity as to where one’s money is going. Also, when there were the inevitable changes to details and specification introduced by us as the build progressed we could see that we were not being “overcharged” for changes/extras as can often be the case. We are extremely pleased with the end result. We have now been living in the “new” house for over a year and remain thrilled by what has been created.”

“Richard Stone was recommended to us for the design of an extension to a house in a sensitive area; the original was created by an Architect on the Heritage committee of our local planning, but he had retired and we needed someone who understood how to reconcile the addition with the original. He was quick and efficient, producing CAD drawings in Adobe, paper copies and also on request in CAD, so we could merge his ideas into the existing shape. He is easy to work with and does not push his own suggestions over your own, also always came back when messages were left on his answerphone if he was in a meeting, and was totally reliable on appointments. What did help was he is ex-Building Control for the Local Authority, so designs were practical and compliant.”
