“We had a great experience working with Dennis Smothers. We had gotten quotes from a couple of different construction companies and we ultimately decided to go with Benchmark because of his competitive quote. Dennis was very responsive and was committed to making sure everything was done to our satisfaction. On those occasions when things didn't go according to plan, Dennis always made it right. We were very pleased with the work done on the main level (complete kitchen remodel/expansion, bath, hardwood floor installation, replacement of doors, sliding glass doors, 2 sets of stairs, incorporation of main level laundry center) and basement (re-configuring the bonus room to add a separate entrance to the laundry and to add a closet to the bonus room so it would count as a 5th bedroom rather than just a bonus room). We came in on budget and decided to move forward with expanding our master bath. We took down a wall that previously divided the bathroom and a closet to create a more spacious and elegant ensuite master bath. The home I (Lori) have lived in for 13 years feels like a new house, and my husband (John) and I are thoroughly enjoying it. This renovation achieved our goals and exceeded our expectations. We plan to hire Dennis to do at least one additional project (decking) in the coming months. “My spouse and I wanted to replace an aging deck and carport at the side of our lakeside home with a garage extension and a gabled sun room above the garage. We searched for years to find a contractor who could reliably put my husband's sketches of plans into reality. We also wanted to be able to do some of the interior work ourselves and to phase in plans for a side deck later to keep costs affordable. In 2009, we located Jon Waldrop, owner, master carpenter, and contractor of Remodeling Associates, Inc., who worked extremely well with us to refine plans and construct the addition in the fall of 2009. The gable matched the design of other gables of the house, and the sun room took advantage of the view of the lake. By spring of 2010, my husband and I had completed insulation and interior walls, recessed lights, and a paneled ceiling in the sun room. In 2012, I built the side deck of composite planks, and we hired a fabricator to create deck rails.”
