“Our first acquaintance with Kim Smith, owner of i. design studio, ltd., was at the Ohio Design Center Showcase Benefit in 2006. Her work, pictured on her web page, was striking and imaginative. We subsequently engaged her to participate in the Cleveland Botanical Garden Designer Showcase. She graciously agreed to participate. That is where we fell in love with her style and creativity - mixing old with modern and cleverly introducing orchids into her "Urban" bathroom vignette. That is precisely what we were looking for with our home refresh/remodel project. Kim was a delight to work with during the Designer Showcase and based on all of the above we did not hesitate to hire her. Kim understood that there was not an endless budget and was very conscientious regarding that. I will never forget her statement "let's shop in your attic first." It was a very fruitful adventure. Kim's keen eye zeroed in on many items that we had thought would not work for us. That exercise certainly helped to curb the budget! Initially Kim created story boards which really helped us to visualize the project. Her sense of design and color truly pulled together two rooms that before were not related in style or purpose. One of the requirements was that we have an more formal but yet durable decor as we are empty nested but still have large dogs. We proceeded to approve and in a rare case or two disapprove of some of the elements. Kim graciously worked with us to make adjustments. The final product (pictured on the web page) was beyond our expectations. We now have an adult living space that we love to "live" in and to entertain in. We have received dozens of compliments on our new livable yet elegant space. This project was done in a timely manner and on budget. Since our original project with Kim, we have engaged her to work with us on several other areas in our home.
