Otta Design

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Ali and Alex to achieve our dream home. We love our house and how it feels and embodies our spirit. Ali and Alex took time to understand what we wanted to achieve, were flexible, patient and encouraging with us as we went through our own journey of discovering what we liked. They have a wonderful gift in working with colour, fabric and texture which can be seen in all their designs, irrespective of pallet. Ali and Alex handled everything very professionally and flexed their time to fit in with our project. We couldn’t recommend them enough.

My husband and I purchased a large Arts and Crafts house in the Chilterns and we were looking for help turning the house into our home. Whilst I love interior design and know what I like and don’t like I wanted an interior designer who could help me with all aspects of the design from paint colours to furniture design and accessories. I felt overwhelmed with the process and the extensive choice available and crucially I didn’t want to make any expensive mistakes. I had never used an interior designer before but I am so glad I did - it has been one of the best decisions we made. I was attracted to working with Otta Design as I wanted the house to look put together, maximising the layout with innovative design ideas but without the signature look that many designers have - I definitely wanted my house to still feel like mine. Otta Design worked to my brief - I wanted an elegant home yet one that was practical for a young family. Otta Design exceeded expectations and the final design is breathtaking. I was involved in all aspects of the design (which I was keen to be) and Otta Design were expertly skilled at using a range of suppliers that fitted the design brief. I felt very comfortable trusting their decisions as I knew they understood the look that I wanted to achieve. My husband and I couldn’t be more thrilled with what Otta Design have achieved - the space is beautifully designed yet practical and within budget. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Otta Design as the results are beyond what we could have expected.

We had the pleasure of working with Otta Design for a full refurb of our house. What was clear from the outset was that they are very accommodating to the client’s requirements and once the objectives are clear, they put forward a very detailed concept for the project. We were very pleased that many of their ideas/suggestions were things we would not have attempted on our own, but very much reflected our taste. We loved their enthusiasm for their jobs which showed over the project. We would finally add that they have an extremely keen sense of aesthetics, particularly highlighted in the execution of the bathrooms, the custom made vanities and the beautiful fabrics used for cushions and curtains. All this fabulous design has created an elegant family home for us which is an elevation of our own taste. I would highly recommend Otta Design and look forward to working with them in the future.

We have worked with Otta Design on a recent Kitchen project as part of a larger refurb and extension and have another project just about to start. From the beginning it was clear they understood their client. We were given a detailed and accurate brief on the client's requirements and a clear concept of what they envisaged as an overall look. They were creative, passionate and professional throughout the whole process and because of this, the client put all their trust into them to be successfully inspired to make bolder decisions than they would have done otherwise. Otta made our job a pleasure by communicating clearly and co-ordinating the project efficiently with the client and builder a like.

We regularly work on joinery projects with Otta Design and they are a pleasure to work with; providing a clear brief from the outset, having thoroughly understood the requirements of the client and demonstrating creative flair and efficiency. They have a warm and personable approach which puts the clients at ease and ensures we have a enjoyable, collaborative professional relationship.

We asked Otta Design to design two bathrooms in our house - one was a refurb and the other was a new space in an extension. Whilst we knew what we liked (we didn't want anything too predictable), we didn't know how to create the look in our own home. Otta put us at ease straight away by taking time to listen and understand our requirements and preferences. They had a real knack for interpreting our ideas and moving them on to something we couldn't have created ourselves. On a practical front, Otta produced layouts to maximise the space and provide ample storage and on the design front, they sourced a variety of finishes we wouldn't have thought of ourselves. The bright yellow pocket door in the children's bathroom will forever make me smile. They were clever with our budget; spending money where it would create most impact and being thrifty in other areas. Importantly for me, Otta took the hassle out of the whole process - they knew where to look for something different, they co-ordinated the project with the builder from the outset and took care of all the ordering and deliveries. The end result is 2 bathrooms which were completed on time and in budget and work in a practical sense but also feel interesting and unique to us. I would 100% recommend Otta Design.

We have recently carried out a full redevelopment and refurbishment of our house in Battersea, and used Otta Design to help with design decisions throughout. They have a brilliant eye for colour, and provided wonderful ideas that took us out of our normal comfort zone. They were also able to provide invaluable advice through their years of experience, when designing our bathrooms and lighting schemes, and worked closely with our builders every step of the way. They are a great team, efficient, approachable and good fun and we couldn’t have got through this project without them.

Otta Design had an extremely difficult task ahead of them with my place. When I hired them, my 'house' was still a hole in the ground and we were not decorating around any single bit of existing furniture. It's very tough to choose so much at once and without seeing the space/light. I thought Otta Design was particularly good at bringing together fabrics, textures (e.g. wallpaper), and colours. They were flexible, creative, and responsive. I appreciated the fact that they often took a very practical approach to certain aspects of the design (e.g. how we would use the space and where would the mess go!). I would definitely recommend them to friends.

Otta Design made choosing colours for our kitchen a breeze. They understood exactly what we wanted to achieve and were quick with suggestions that made the entire process hassle free. They also provided guidance on lighting and suggested spot and recess lights which have has made the entire space well lit while still providing ambience. Very happy with the results.

Otta was involved in the top to bottom refurbishment we did to our house in Battersea Park last year. Al has a great eye for colour, a fantastic network of suppliers of all kinds, and overall helped us to create the house of our dreams without breaking the bank. They were both fun to work with and professional.

I would highly recommend Otta Design. They were calm, helpful and available and always came up with fantastic suggestions and fabrics. They are a lovely team and were particularly good at interpreting my vision. I am extremely happy with the final result and have endless compliments from visitors.
