“Bay Area Kitchens redesigned our kitchen, converted a computer room to a bar, and a year later, converted a storage area in our family room into a dual function area (photo gallery/buffet). Mr. Godeau, was our project manager. He is one of the few professionals who delivers what he promises; he presents a timeline which is very accurate. Our final designs were exactly what we wanted because he listened to our ideas/wants/needs. We appreciated his candor as he steered us away from unforeseen mistakes or impossible changes. Weekly update(s), during the project, was the norm. He has a professional and reliable crew working for him, as well. We chose BAK to complete our first two projects because he is a problem-solver. He volunteered a solution to a major problem in our kitchen project during our first meeting....we were impressed.”

“Sweetlake Interior design is an excellent company to work with. My job was very involved...completely gutting and redesigning the kitchen, new tile floors in 3 large rooms, 2 large built ins, painting almost all rooms as well as purchasing new furniture and decorating. Lori, the owner, is very professional and friendly and has the most amazing crew of contractors of whom she oversees beautifully. Each of the head contractors are very skilled at what they do and supervise their crews accordingly. Probably the most rewarding experience was with my designer Aurora. She is extremely talented and easy to work with. From the first day she listened carefully to me and very quickly understood my tastes and preferences. She designed the kitchen of my dreams, not to mention creating a gorgeous flow from room to room that is breathtaking. She helped me choose furniture and decor and made purchasing these very easy. Aurora worked very closely on a daily basis with the crew and was consistent in achieving quality in every level of construction and design. The written contract with Sweetlake was very thorough and itemized and there were no surprises. The whole job went very smoothly and was completed in less time than estimated. I would highly recommend Sweetlake Intereror Design to anyone who is looking for a desginer. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“We had a very difficult room to furnish, with odd proportions. Out taste is contemporary, but the house was built in 1923. Beverly was amazing! She quickly solved all our design dilemmas and created a space that we truly love. She is a true talent; able to listen to what clients want, and come up with design that goes beyond expectation. I would recommend her to anyone with large or small design jobs.”

“I remolded a 1970s house with the help of Ray and his crew. They did an amazing job! Ray walked me through my options, gave me ideas for the remodel, and was there every step of the way. I gutted the floors, demoed walls in the kitchen and master bathroom, and redid the counters and back splash throughout the home. I would highly recommend using Big City Construction for your next project, big or small.”

“The Not So Big House The challenge was making a 1936 charming rock cottage with a meager 1,000 sq ft into something livable. The original kitchen was about the size of a closet. It was so small that the refrigerator has to go in the hall. The screened-in porch in the back had been converted into a nondescript room in the 1960’s that had a leaky flat roof and termites. In a nutshell, here is what we did. We tore out the existing kitchen and converted the space into part of the living room. We demolished the nondescript room and rebuilt it on a slab so that it would support a second story. The nondescript room became the kitchen and utility room of my dreams. The upstairs became a master bedroom, a master bath, and an office alcove. In the kitchen (since the floors in the living room are oak, the walls knotty pine, and the ceiling shiplap - all medium hues of brown) we selected a very dark ebony matte finish on the cabinets so that they would stand out from the rest of the wood in the house. The color and finish turned out beautiful on the Brookhaven knotty cherry that we used throughout the house. The stainless steel washer and dryer are part of the kitchen and go nicely with the other stainless steel appliances. We put Saltillo tile countertops with decorative Talavera tile inserts in the kitchen. We planned a 15 inch space above the wall cabinets to display some Talavera plates. The above and below cabinet lighting add to the overall ambience of the room. Since we don’t have an eating area, we use the island to seat up to six. The pull out drawers, the pantry, the “Lazy Susans”, the spice drawers and utensil drawer make efficient use of space and motion. We even have a pull-out drawer under my sink to store my dish scrubbers. My trim carpenter installed the bottom cabinet molding backwards, but it still looks great. We made the mistake of ordering a side-by-side counter depth refrigerator. We lost valuable storage space with the double doors and would have been better off with a single door refrigerator. We’ll just have to live with it for now. Upstairs, I used the same Brookhaven knotty cherry cabinets in a matte ebony finish throughout. These cabinets integrate well with the rustic look and feel of the entire home. We carved an office out of the wall in the master bedroom creating an alcove by flanking the desk with bookshelves. Large iron gates close off the desk giving me some mental and physical separation from it since it’s in my bedroom. The master bath has Saltillo countertops and Talavera sinks installed in the Brookhaven knotty cherry cabinets. We love the soft close doors and drawers. The hammered copper cabinet knobs go well with the bronze faucets and other hardware in the bathroom. Now, a few things about Cabinets and Designs and why you should select them as your cabinet designers. The job went like clockwork. Cabinets and Designs made it so easy. No surprises. The cabinets came in on time. My salesman, David, came out to the job site several times. He measured the space while under construction to plan, then measured again before ordering, and came out again when the cabinets were delivered to review installation instructions with the builder. David shared his experience and expertise to make the best possible use of my space for what was important to me. Now I have the a bigger “not so big house” with the kitchen and bath of my dreams in it. Thank you!”
