“Enjoyed working with Cassie and Kirk Aoyagi. I had an idea of how I wanted to change the look of the front yard, adding some Japanese touches and a contemporary fence. It all came out looking great and still looks wonderful.”

“Angela is such a gem! We have utilized her several times and have always had our expectations exceeded every single time. She can do anything from a small starter edible garden to a huge full scale landscaping project, and everything in between. I'm so impressed with her ability to work with any size space and be creative and fabulous! She did our first veggie garden box (which she built herself) and since then has done an herb planter and our whole backyard. Her eye and her instincts for choosing plants and designing a space are truly special. She is also a very calm and collected person, very dependable, and gets the job done perfectly every single time. I highly recommend Eden condensed for any of your garden or yard needs. She is simply the best.”

“We hired Hummingbird Design to fix up our front yard, which had been in a state of disregard for years. They came up with a beautiful plan within our budget and implemented it within our timeframe, using a team that was professional and efficient. We were given specific upkeep instructions and they followed up after completion of the job to make sure we were satisfied and the plants were taking root properly. To this day, Hummingbird is available to answer any of our questions regarding the work or maintenance of the yard. Overall, our experience has been wonderful and we would definitely hire them again and recommend them to anyone who needed landscaping design services.”

“I just bought a house in the high desert and I called Ketti for a consultation, I wasn't sure if she would know about how to work in the desert climate but her ideas were amazing. She knows so much about plants and she helped me find the right plants that would grow in my area. Ketti's work is so creative I don't think any other designer would think of the things she does. For example my backyard was surrounded by a pinkish block wall. She suggested I paint the brick a natural plant enhancing brown, and it was amazing how much that small change made in the area. I know with her continuing consultation my yard is becomeing something out of a fairytale, I'll be stepping out into a art-gallery of nature and artistic stone paths that will uplift my soul on a daily basis.”

“Shawn really deserves 4 1/2 stars. But houzz does not have a half star symbol. Not only is he a fine designer, but his choice of plantings is superb and he plainly has access to the best growers from Santa Barbara to San Diego. The design of our beautiful and environmentally sensible garden is superb. There will be several small additions when the spring arrives which will truly make the garden go "la-boom". Shawn is personable and articulate about what he believes a garden in 2016 should comprise. I have no reservations whatsoever about recommending him.”
Salvador Sales Landscape Design & maintenance

“My husband Matt B. and I bought a house last year, and we knew from the very beginning that we wanted to redo the landscaping on our front yard, as the previous owners--who were essentially flippers--had put in like six widely spaced plants in a field of wood chips and called it a day. We had no idea how to go about this, though, and instead just walked around our neighborhood admiring all the lovely yards, wishing ours could magically look like theirs. During the course of these walks, we noticed little signs on a couple of our neighbors' yards, both of which had been recently, handsomely landscaped. They said "Landscape by Sal Sales," with a phone number underneath. We took his number down and kept it in our pocket for a while, relieved to have someone to go to when it was time to make over our yard. It was a big project, but we decided to get it going in April. We had a lot to do--we ended up tearing out a wall and a fence, basically reshaping the whole yard before we could even think about planting. We have a contractor, Art P., we've been working with for a while, and we knew he and his crew would be able to do everything other than the design and layout of the yard. I think Sal works with his own team, but I didn't want to take the work from my contractor, so when I called him, I asked if he'd be willing to do just some of the work, starting with a drawing. He said this was no problem, and we set a time for him to come see the house and meet with me and Art. I knew I'd been right to call Sal pretty much as soon as he started talking. His knowledge and understanding of landscaping clearly run deep, and he was able to look at our house and brainstorm ideas with intuitive ease. We took a walk around the neighborhood, and I pointed to things I liked. Sal knew what everything was, and figured out what I wanted pretty fast. He stayed for a long time, taking photos and answering all of my questions. He promised a drawing in the coming weeks, and also suggested that he do the buying and planting, which made sense to me. We wanted drought-resistant landscaping that didn't look like a straight-up Arizona desert job. As it turns out, this aligned pretty perfectly with Sal's niche--he uses California native plants that are low maintenance and don't drink up too much water. Most of these are plants I'd never heard of before, but he knows where to get them, running around town hitting up all the nurseries. He gave us a drawing with a proposed layout, and then set about sourcing while Art and his team prepped the yard for planting. The planting itself took less than a week, with Sal coming in every day to oversee the layout and bring in more plants as needed. He placed every single one himself, and even laid out the stones for our walkway--another place where his designer's eye came in handy. Our yard looks great now, alive with greenery, with several trees and a variety of shrubs and bushes (I think that's what they are; my plant vocabulary is extremely limited) that are supposed to grow in completely over the next year, but have looked fantastic since they went in the ground. With a drip system in place, the yard only needs maintenance about three or four times a year, and I'll be hiring Sal to take care of it. He invoiced me for the plants plus a very reasonable amount of money for his time and energy and labor. His expertise was worth every penny, not to mention he's a super nice guy who's always a pleasure to talk to. I can't recommend Salvador Sales Landscape enough. He'll pretty up your house with some drought-resistant California native realness.”
Deanne Dalton

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars28 December 2020
“I've enlisted Deanne Dalton to be my architect and navigate the approval process at Santa Clarita City Hall and the other agencies involved in issuing the required permits to build a new house and attached garage/shop on a raw site. Her job includes bringing together the many professionals needed to get a permit. At this point in time, the plans have been approved and we are waiting on one thing to get the building permit. I had a career in real estate appraising and heard the bad stories about dealing with contractors. However, I had absolutely NO IDEA that the City and other agencies would be so difficult to navigate! That's why you don't see custom houses being built in Santa Clarita. That my project has gotten to this point is a testament to Deanne's tenacity, the people she knows, her persuasive skills, her knowledge of the process, and high ethical standards. Deanne gave me a very reasonable price and, despite having gone thru hell to get us this far, she has never even hinted that she wanted to renegotiate our services contract. She has always had my back and once reminded me that I'd already paid a bill that I was ready to pay again. Despite it all I've never seen her upset. She responds to all my calls. I'm quite sure I would have eventually bailed on this project had I hired any of the other architects I'd interviewed for this job. She has a good sense of humor and a quick laugh. Thanks, Deanne, for pushing me down the road and not giving up!!!”
