Jo Chater Garden Designs

The garden I asked Jo to design was, when she started to work on it, an area covered in concrete with weeds growing through the cracks. As I didn't know anything about gardening in general and plants in particular I left the design and choice of plants to Jo. The only brief was that I wanted a garden that was easy to maintain and pretty to look at. The result was stunning. Jo created a garden that has given me a lot of pleasure over the last few years. She has turned my garden into an oasis within an urban setting. The lawn has a soft curving edge; there are shrubs and small trees growing along the fence which blossom at different times of the year. The flowers in the borders follow a mainly blue and white colour scheme. The patio is paved with beautiful honey-coloured flagstones. Jo created a pretty garden with a feminine touch. What I liked most about working with Jo was that she took a lot of time to discuss her design with me and that she created a garden within my budget.. She is very knowledgeable, reliable and extremely friendly. I am very pleased that I hired her to design my garden for me.

Jo Chater designed our garden nine years ago when we bought a house that had recently been redeveloped and the garden had been badly damaged and compromised by the building works. Jo’s design and vision has resulted in our garden being a huge asset to our house: another beautiful room; and it is a pleasure to look at and use. Jo’s expertise included not just her plant knowledge and horticultural understanding, but also the overall task of turning this vision into reality, overseeing all the hard landscaping, the laying of the new lawn and the creation of a raised pond. Jo also kept within the allocated budget and clearly explained our options within this. Our garden has flourished over the last nine years and the design has proved to be the basis for it having matured into a beautiful space. It is much complimented by all who visit.
