Bed disaster! Advice desperately wanted!
Comments (143)Well, maybe when the kitchen stuff is out you can try different options (ones you want to try) in the wardrobe area and see what you like best. (Actually, there isn't that much stuff next to wardrobe.....up to you, though. Hmmmm. In the meantime, I think you could look for hardware for the cabinets and something for the end of the bed that isn't green....See MoreParquet floor disaster? Help
Comments (166)Those are wise words Karen! am so glad it worked out for you. Love to see a photo, what colour or shade did you choose? Jools, The bitumen is a right pig, best way we found is to make it cold, so it becomes brittle, then you can scrape /chip it off. We used a window scraper, coarse wire wool and various sandpaper. We left the window open on a cold night, turned heating off in there, and you could try a cooler fan on it. Putting ice bags on it didn't work as well as we hoped. we used a round sander, but it can cause swirls, it's really awkward ! To be honest a few dips and scratches on an old floor are okay in the end, don't be too afraid of it, they are only pieces of wood stuck down on the floor, not bone china, as long as you try not to break them, or set fire to them, otherwise you can't possibly do more damage than I did, and they recovered!...See MoreHelp! Grey paint disaster!
Comments (5)Hi Mrs Baggy! Firstly, grey is just a generic term for a neutral paint and is made from mixing two opposing colours together. Try to imagine that most colours have a bias - for example, when looking at a paint chart, some greys will look slightly green, some blue, some taupe (violet) etc. If yours has a blue bias it will look cold and even more blue next to the floor colour. I suggest a warmer grey such as Portland Stone by Little Green Paint Company....See MoreDesign Disaster!
Comments (12)I think your big decisions are good the flooring is really nice and sounds like you’ve got a great sofa coming, I think it’s the paint decisions and like everyone is saying you haven’t got any of your bits in there yet to bring it all together. I would question the white spindles as I think this does date your space I wonder if you painted them a dark colour like the carpet they wouldn’t stand out so much? The paint colour you have in the living room is quite boho so if you put lots of texture with it and a big rug and plants you’ll probably love it. Is the hallway green? I would be tempted to make this neutral and add a console table or bench to take your shoes off to the left of the door. A mirror will also brighten this space. You’ve got a lovely home please don’t be disheartened 😊...See More- last year
