Gable end bedroom - same colour for walls and ceiling?

Looking for advice on our master bedroom which has vaulted ceiling (not high, not beamed) and off-white plantation shutters covering the entire apex window. South East facing. The bed has a large charcoal fabric headboard, nothing else is decided on. I’m thinking of Little Greene Slaked Lime Mid for the walls - should I paint the same colour up into the apex and on the ceiling? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

I had a similar dilemma and wanted to keep wall and ceiling the same (LOTS of eaves and angles and odd walls otherwise). I did original Slaked Lime. I’ve seen Slaked Lime Mid ceilings and it looks nice. If you worried it was too dark, a tonal look with Mid on the walls and original on the ceiling could look smart.

Hello cubacuba, When painting a room one colour it's advisable to consider variations on a theme.. So all woodwork a shade lighter or darker than wall colour. It makes for a more interesting scheme. In addition you can layer the furnishings in the same way and add textures... This is what will give the room some depth.. Repeat the scheme for the bed too with layered cushions and throws to compliment the room and complete the scheme.. :))

Hi Sue. The pale pink doesn't seem to be lightening up the room ATM so I wonder if you've considered going dark? The pictures below are farrow and ball Hague blue which would look great against the screen and the floor. You could also add a large potted plant and maybe consider wallpapering the back of the shelves in a William Morris paper as per the link? This could also work for the boiler cupboard but would try just painting it first. Thanks for all the ideas! Just to clarify I have blinds on the window but even with the blinds turned I feel like I'm not getting much privacy, hence the idea of having a wall or something else. Just like to have privacy without having to close the blinds. I also currently have a chest of draws opposite the wardrobe, just a cheap one from IKEA which gives me extra storage but I'm not crazy about it. After mocking up the back to back in 3D in floorplanner I think it's not the best option as it would reduce the amount of floor space and block a lot of light compared to having a long run against the wall. I like OnePlan's idea, I actually thought about that before but went off it as it wold feel more like walking into a wardrobe instead of a bedroom, plus I couldn't find any sliding doors that looked good from both sides and in budget. While I like the idea of wardrobes either side, I would only have about 1-1.5 meters on the left side, which might look a bit odd. I did try it with my current wardrobes and it made the room very dark but if I used white wardrobes it might look better. As you can tell I've been thinking about this for a while and I've gone through a lot of ideas. My main concern was with people's reaction to dividing the room and walking into the wardrobe first but I'm encouraged with the comments on here about that. The other concern is budget. I don't want to spend a crazy amount on it but I do want it finished nice. Thanks for all the ideas and comments :)

Hi! My bedroom is a really odd shape with many doors because of built in wardrobes in the eaves. We have curved walls into ceilings on most walls so it’s impossible to find the end of wall and the start of the ceiling! I have chosen Little Greene Livid colour for the walls to paint half height with brilliant white for the ceiling and top part of the walls. (which we have already done) Hubby and I are thinking that we might like to paint the ceiling and all the walls the same Livid colour. Would it look ridiculous? Should we leave all the wood work white or paint it exactly the same colour? I have attached a couple of pictures of the oddly shaped room, and one of inspiration. Forgive the mess of my pictures!. Where the bed is in my picture will be dressing table or chair (I am thinking of feature wallpapering that wall because it is a’flat’ wall) and a different bed will go in front of the wall with the wooden shelf on top. The room is north facing and we like that it doesn’t get a lot of light! But the window is white PVC so I am wondering if we should stick the white woodwork.. Thanks for reading! Totally agree with Holly's comments. The benefit of all in one colour will be lower costs for decorators as there will be no cutting in as well - so worth bearing in mind too (unless you are doing the work yourselves of course!). I'd go with the Slaked Lime Mid all over - it won't feel too dark once its up on the walls. You'll be amazed!
