Size of Corian Upstand
Comments (15)Hi, I had this dilemma as well. Personally I found a short up stand of the same worktop too chunky. Mine is a white gloss kitchen and I went for a white glass up stand in 6mm glass. It's barely there - but it might not be as stark white as your worktop (you could go for a colour though!) I wanted a deeper up stand is about 10" but my kitchen people were super awkward about it and got stroppy, so I ended up with a 15cm one which looks nicer than a small one. My main issue for wanting a deeper one was because of the splashes from the sink. They called me crazy - but it gets v dirty behind my sink! I do have a kitchen paint of course which is washable but a deeper one would have been much more practical!...See MoreKitchen splashback advice required please
Comments (19)Thank you for all your responses. My preference is matching splash back to the bench-tops. The trouble is the size of these laminate splash back comes in are 3000mm x 600mm or 1500mm x 1210 mm - I will require at-least 3100mm by approx 695 mm (h) as all units are set a little bit higher due to the minimum requirements for gas hob clearance. I opted all units to be set higher as I wanted streamlined look hence I am looking at a minimum of 2 joins. Would 2 joins on a laminate splash back look okay? Or would it be too obvious. ( I will of course ensure the joining material glue or whatever is called is matched to the laminate colour?) Thank you...See MoreKitchen wall - splashback?
Comments (40)Ha! Excellent :) sorry but I can’t remember the name and it was the only light grey they had (probably for better as the more choice there is the more diffi it is to make a decision:-)). I recommend you get samples/shop brings bigger samples to put against wall to help you decide. I found this great to test and look at it woth different light etc. I got it as it is glass so it’s low maintenance and since I had it installed I haven’t properly cleaned it haha apart from minor dots from tomato sauce and I just wiped with sponge. Love the practical side ;)!...See MoreSplash back with an up-stand?
Comments (16)Thanks to bad renovation timing coinciding with the start of Covid lockdowns, we used DIY removable wallpaper above our upstand as a temporary “make do” measure because all work and shopping had to stop. Three years later (!) we are finally getting around to removing a chimney breast to completely finalise the kitchen, including replastering, and I am fairly certain I will be using the same wallpaper again. The only difference is it will be professionally hung! We have received so many compliments and it’s been shockingly robust, even behind the hob. We used a greyish shiplap patterned wallpaper above a Carrera marble countertop and upstand, with white upper and pale grey lower cabinets....See More- 3 months ago
