Relocate rear bathroom in the ground floor

Hi, we're looking into relocating the bathroom at the rear of the house to somewhere else in the ground floor, as well as adding one bathroom in the first floor.

Thinking that ground floor's one can be a small one, or even just a W.C.

Any ideas where could be a good location?

(* We're not thinking about extension at this moment due to the budget constraint although that'd be awesome)

Gave it a go as well:

Downstairs wc and utility, kitchen makeover, boiler moved. Upstairs created a 175x240cm bathroom by taking some space off the rear bedroom (shower 90x75cm, toilet requires 80cm width, vanity could therefore could be 60 to 70cms wide).

Hi Jonathan, Thanks for your feedback and alternative solution. I like the way you've moved the kitchen around as it really helps to utilise the space well. I think our issue is that we have too many things we want to include on the list to have on the ground floor: 1. Formal Living Room 2. Dining Room 3. Lounge/TV Room 4. Guest Bedroom 5. Kids Playroom 6. Utility/Boot Room 7. Kitchen 8. Toilet 9. Guest Shower/Toilet I've uploaded the floor plan again with the rooms in their preferred locations, but will be flexible if another more flowing plan can come about. The window where the Boot Room is actually meant to be a door, to quickly access the garden if there is a need without having to open up the bi-fold doors. So if the kitchen was to be moved across into the boot room corner, access to the door will be required. Currently the Boot Room space is about 4m long, we have thought of reducing it to 3m and push all the rooms below it up a little so we can have more space in the Play room and Guest bedroom. Any other alternatives /ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the idea OnePlan. This is interesting and yes the entrance of bedrooms can probably be altered to accommodate this. Having said that, it is a mid-terraced house so I guess the getting the plumbing fitted on the first floor will be quite some work and hence expensive? Sorry I forgot to mention that in my original post.

For what it's worth, I would redesign the full downstairs floor plan, assess what are load bearing walls and where possible remove and reconfigure the plan. Your current proposal is problematic and doesn't solve the issue , room ratios are evidently wrong and the proposed layout isn't going to add equity to your property I ain't trolling or looking for business, and wish you luck in your venture, but advise that you think more adventurously and refine the spaces as they are cluttered Sorry haven't time to sketch up ideas Would push kitchen dining across back with utility room Bathroom on right hand side where old kitchen is Turn cloak and office in to one room, even use as walk in wardrobe Endless possibilities, engage an architect and qs

Hi Jason, I'm glad you found this helpful. My thoughts for the upstairs a relatively simple so I'll just describe them: You have a few options depending on what your priorities are: 1. combine the bathroom and shower room as 1 large bathroom, with a door on an angled wall next to bedroom 2 ( as you suggested). (and you could also add an ensuite to the master bedroom at the front right.) 2. Or you could use some of the space of the above room to create an ensuite for the main bedroom, but have a similar main bathroom size to the existing. 3. Or you could take some of the space from Bedroom 2 to create a large main bathroom and a nice size ensuite for the master bedroom. (4. you could swap the bathrooms with bedroom 3, but I wouldn't recommend this as it would be a lot of work for very little or no improvement). I think your plumbing might be the big constraint. If it wasn't for that the ideal for me would be small ensuites in both bedrooms. Kitchen moved into dining room and opened up to include the corridor. Downstairs loo moves to window side of current kitchen, small hallway in bottom right of current kitchen to give access to loo and new room made out of the remaining space at the back - study / snug / somewhere to enjoy the sunshine.
