Hilarious buying white paint ad

Anyone seen this ad for a mobile phone company where a woman enters a posh paint shop asking for just white paint? Reminds of our many advice posts regarding “off white” paint recommendations. Cracks me up every time!

It’s obviously a poke at F&B but I think some of your suggestions are even better Jonathan! Let’s face it does anyone buy Dead Salmon? Not a white but the worst name ever.

We bought our house 15 years ago with an open mind but wanting some minimum basics - white bathroom suite and separate loo, kitchen / diner or scope to have one, 4 bedrooms, large - preferably bay - window for Christmas tree and a cat-flap. We got a Victorian fixer-upper - 5 bedrooms, a space for a kitchen diner (had to move some plumbing and gas into it and convert old kitchen into utility), lovely 11ft high ceilings, gorgeous tall bay window, cat-flap into the utility, wood-burning stove - on the road parking (oops) and it was in local guide books and sometimes a walk-around tour! I walked into the place with an open mind and immediately loved the atmosphere, it felt like home. High ceilings and off the road parking would be priorities next-time though, we love our high ceilings and everyone who visits us does too.

Wow thank you so so much! This is beyond helpful! I think I will be able to sleep tonight (last two nights were just crazy-can't stop blaming myself for ruining our fence!) :) Appreciate the design pictures too! Love the idea of mix of the various flowers with trees, but I think we will need to paint all of the fence white now, as it will look unfinished?! The right side of the garden is south facing, so fence is faded brown (golden) and we have a shed there. Planning to buy another one and paint them in grey or so..to match the theme and make this garden cute! Our left fence is north facing, so it is still quite dark..so we need to make all of them match perhaps and then plant shady plants on the left, mix at the back and sun lovers to the right. Great idea with the oval shape! Need to think about the bloody slope.. it starts approx 1.5m from the back fence and slopes by approx 0.5m, so not too bad..but I hope the ground wont slide and plants will be able to grow there, otherwise I'm gonna be devastated. I will keep you posted as soon as we make some progress!

IF those panels looked ‘white’ out of the bathroom, but lilac-ish inside, they are likely a white colour from the end of the Yellow-Red Hue Family, beginning of Yellow. Neutral colours are prone to colour shift lilac/purpleish from this region, if the inherent light (either daylight or elecy) spikes more in blue-violet wavelengths. If the purple cast is more evident in artificial light, as mentioned above - Check out the Kelvin value of the bulbs. Lots of discussion elsewhere on Houzz that 4000K is required to help colours look ‘more true’ but that’s only part of the story. Using bulbs which declare a CRI or Colour Rendering Index value of 90+ will help colours render more accurately. That info is not available on all light bulbs but can be found on some.
