Mattress for a German bed
Comments (5)It’s an unusual size, even for a continental bed. I had a quick look and 80x190 is hard to find, however have you looked on Amazon? I found a few there, example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Viscoelastic-Mattress-Luxury-Comfort-Cashmere/dp/B01DYDQX1O/ref=sr_1_18?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1515177829&sr=1-18&keywords=80x190+mattress Couldn’t say what the quality is like tho. Alternative, although it would cost more is to have them made. bedguru.co.uk looks like they make good quality mattresses and also cater for individual sleeping needs. Hope this helps....See MoreTrue handless kitchen - recommendations please
Comments (29)Hello Billy, thanks for your kind comments! Yes it does look amazing :-). Yes, I'm having all Siemens appliances, the kitchen shop gets a good deal on that brand so I thought I'd go for it, otherwise I would probably have gone for Bosch or Neff if sourcing appliances myself. Miele would have been out of my budget. The ovens you see are 1 Siemens self cleaning combination microwave/oven and 1 combination full steam/oven. I think some new models are out already and if they are out, it means you can get the older model for a cheaper price, which is great unless there is a must have function in the new model you can't do without and the current Siemens ovens do look good anyway. If you've already decided on the brand, design and the shop, you can still ask for a discount, in fact most of the independent shops I went to did offer some discount when I asked ( not much discount but better than nothing ). Yes, having an extension built ( approx. 5.5m x3m ) with pitched roof, 3 velux and sliding doors ( as in picture ), the shell has been built, steels in etc now waiting for 1st fix for electrician. Btw, I don't mean to be nosey into your kitchen design but do you really need 4 ovens? I know we always see them in glossy magazines/photos and it does look good, I also wanted 4 ovens too for the look but then decided it was pointless if I didn't need to use 4 ovens and you would save some money too. On your island ( if you have space ), you could consider an overhang of the worktop on the opposite side of the sink so people could sit there, as I've heard from people with islands that when guests come over, everyone hangs around the island and those that don't have an overhang wish they did. You can chat with your guests whilst cooking/ preparing. If you have older kids and want to get them involved, they can sit on that side and perhaps help prepare too :-). That's my vision for my kitchen anyway :-)....See Moretorn between kitchen styles
Comments (67)Hi Tani, I have an ikea kitchen. I wanted wood doors and nothing traditional and ikea did oak doors that I liked. What swung it for me was reading about how many architects use ikea. One thing I know is that they use very good designers, so their stuff tends to be 'clever'. You do have to construct the carcasses and some fitters don't like this. What is good is that the carcasses hang off a steel rail. This is attached to the wall and then all of the cupboards hang in a straight line and then the feet are adjusted at the front. My carpenter adjusted my units as he was fitting them, even reducing the depth at times, so the whole thing was bespoke. The other thing is that they are much bigger. They go much nearer to the floor and the kick plates are virtually invisible, this looks more contemporary. They are deeper to so you can't get a standard off the shelf worktop. I paid the same for the fitting as the cost of the units, in my opinion it's all about the fitting. Most carpenter use Howdens as they have accounts and it's familiar to them. I also saved money by using a thin layer of quartz over moisture resistant MDF (a bit like an engineered floor). Whole thing was 16K including removing a load bearing wall, plastering, electrics, kitchen everything....See MoreKitchen categories
Comments (14)Your choice will depend very much on your budget. However, what you might like to consider is that pretty much all German & Italian kitchens use a standard quality carcase board which is a high density, water resistant chipboard. This differs from the bottom end of the UK market where cabinets utilise the cheapest possible board to keep prices low. Most German kitchens have 16mm thick cabinets, Italian kitchens are usually 18mm - but the board type, structure and quality are identical. In respect of engineering, many German companies will tell you their fittings are superior to the Italian products. This is usually nonsense because good Italian companies use the same interior fittings as the Germans. Whoever you use, the drawer systems to look out for are Blum or Grass. Both, incidentally, are Austrian not German! For internal fittings such as larder units, the best brand is Kessebohmer. This is a German company but the same fittings are widely used by the Italians as well. You might also like to know that it is widely rumoured that some higher end German companies source their lacquered doors from Italian manufacturers - Italian lacquer is after all the best in the World! I have provided below a list of both German and Italian brands for you to look at. However, this is by no means a comprehensive list. There are many independent companies, like Artform London, that market German and/or Italian kitchens from a vast range of manufacturers, some of whom the UK market has never, or hardly ever, even heard of. In our case, we source our cabinets from two Italian manufacturers, neither of which are included in this list because we market our cabinets under our own brand. By sourcing direct from less well known, but nevertheless excellent quality, cabinet manufacturers we, and other companies like us, are able to supply top quality cabinets that compete favourably on price with much lesser quality UK companies. If you would like a quotation, let us know! Some of the manufacturers are: GERMAN Bulthaup Poggenpohl Siematic Eggersman Leicht Hacker Nolte Schuller Nobilia ITALIAN Minotti Boffi Binova Valcucine Varenna Dada Poliform Arclinea Strato Mobalpa Scavolini...See MoreLuxe Ltd
