What colour walls, worktops and floor go with the cupboards?
Comments (14)I think I would opt for a lightly textured white-ish worktop and something similar for the floor. Pure white in floortiles or worktops show every crumb, speck of dust and mark, and with your white metro tiles (which I love and specify often), runs the risk of being too "clinical". With a texture (marble or quartz effect), it will keep your room bright (you seem to have limited window for lighting) while being much more practical to live with. To include a slight "grey" tone would work well, and greys are very "now"! There are many lovely worktops (try looking at the Duropal website for inspiration) with a little pattern/texture which will mix white and grey tones and perhaps pick up on the tones from your wood. Why not pop into your local independent kitchen showroom - they'll have lots of samples for you to look at (probably more than the big "chains") and are normally more than happy for you to borrow sample pieces/swatches to try out at home. They'll be able to advise on the different makes/qualities and give you pricing to supply and/or fit. They'll probably have lots of tile and flooring samples for you to look at too! Comments (31)Hi, your kitchen looks beautiful! came across threads as we too are currently debating diy kitchens cashmere or light grey, we have ordered cashmere and started to have doubts that it would be too dark. Though looking at yours I'm reassured again! I just wondered what wood worktop/and poss stain you have chosen? We looked at a solid wood oak but i thought it looked a bit yellowy. Comments (8)Thank you everybody for all your help and comments. I did choose a worktop through Wren but decided to buy it elsewhere due to cost and have now changed my mind. Ribena and Jonathan, you do make interesting comments though. The designer seemed to quite proficiently push boxes around on a kitchen grid layout but apart from what was on display, didn’t have a lot of ‘creative’ design suggestions on colour matching. If it wasn’t on display or in the brochure...........???? Anyone else about to embark on a new kitchen might want to consider who they use...See MoreWhat colour kitchen walls? Grey units/oak worktops
Comments (15)In my opinion it is the saturation level of the paint that is the problem. The beauty of your kitchen is the natural flooring and the wooden worktops, it looks earthy. This is swamped by the blue paint, it just looks wrong. Without seeing the cupboard door colours close up it is tricky but I would suggest looking for something a bit darker than the cupboards but with the same hue. If you want a strong contrasting wall a deep olive green would work as it would balance the wood and the purpley greys....See More- 10 days agolast modified: 9 days ago
