Can't decide kitchen floor tiles, help please!
Comments (11)I APPRECIATE YOUR DESIGN DILEMMA. THE TILES YOU ARE CONSIDERING ARE REALLY PRETTY. I ALSO LOVE THE LOOK YOU HAVE BEEN CREATING. YOUR KITCHEN SOUNDS LIKE A FIRED EARTH STYLE KITCHEN, CLASSY. I HAVE CONSIDERED THE ABOVE ADVICE WHICH MAKES SENSE FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. I WOULD SAY THAT IF YOUR NOT PLANNING TO MOVE ITS SO IMPORTANT THAT YOU CHOOSE A FLOOR THAT YOU LOVE. I HAVE LEARN'T BY MY MISTAKES. I ONCE HAD THE SAME DILEMMA AND WAS PLANNING TO MOVE AFTER MY SHAKER KITCHEN REMODEL. I WENT FOR TRAVERTINE FLOOR AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD SELL QUICKER. I DID THE FLOOR AND NEVER MOVED, SON MOVED BACK HOME WITH HIS FAMILY. I THEN LIVED IN THE PROPERTY FOR A FEW YEARS AND HAD MAJOR REGRET ABOUT NOT GOING FOR MY GUT INSTINCT ON FLOOR. I THINK THE FLOOR WILL LOOK SENSATIONAL. IT WILL BE STUNNING WITH THE COLOUR OF YOUR UNITS. JUST WARM UP WITH ACCESSORIES, COPPER PANS AND ACCESSORIES ARE VERY TRENDY RIGHT NOW. KEEP THE WALLS LIGHT. YOUR LOOK WILL BE TIMELESS. GOOD LUCK....See MoreHelp in deciding what shape and size floor tiles
Comments (9)I'm not sure if they're more fashionable? My personal preference is typically rectangular. Tiles laid in a grid pattern means you get a long grout line and leads your eye onwards so makes the space feel bigger. Laying them diagonally means you still get the long grout line but you don't "see" the edges so it feels bigger still. Large tiles are generally much better to create the feeling of space, less grout lines so less busy. It does mean your floor needs to be really level though. You also need to be careful tHat it doesn't become busy by the number of cuts needed for the tiles though!...See MorePlease help me decide which tiles for bathroom
Comments (9)Minnie, This photo may be more accurate - I’ve propped them up as best I can on the bath (current bath to be replaced with claw-foot roll top). The shower tray will be white acrylic and there will be no tiles at wash-hand basin, just shower tiles and the herringbone floor tiles. Cle, thanks for your comment though I completely disagree with you - metro/subway tiles have been around since the last century and are classic - they just happen to currently be trendy! I do not slavishly follow trends but I live in an old cottage and the traditional style floor and subway tile suit the property perfectly. My bathroom is naturally dark, which I like, and want to work with hence the dark taupe herringbone floor tiles. There is really not a huge difference in the shades of white so I am probably over-analysing because I made a mistake choosing shower tiles before....See Morewhat big tiles in shower area would go with these subway tiles and flo
Comments (7)My bathroom looks to be about forty years old, judging by the dated tiles. The tiles are awful, but the shower grout looks fine! If you like the small format tiles, I wouldn’t necessarily assume they can’t also go in the shower....See MoreDaisy England
