The countertops ate custom made, as are all quality granite/stone counters. The stone is Premium Indian Black. Contact a qualified stone fabricator, such as Max Marble, for pricing and selections. The material is available at most stone distribution companies. Check with a couple and view the slabs. Your fabricator can guide you. No, I was thinking more like a classic pattern that mixes squares with rectangles, or maybe bigger slabs not staggered for a more modern look. . Going vertical may be another option. I'm not sure if staggering it like brickwork would be the best look. Or how about something more rustic so it doesn't look something like a shower wall or backsplash? I love the colors of slate and its earthy feel. If you post pictures, I'm sure a stone guy here could give you some tips

The bedroom so far! Finally have our carpet in which is lovely (pale silvery grey) and the wall is painted in the engraved locket. I liked it so much that I bought another tin and have painted my dining room wall in it just to give the White a break! Lol. The other side with the silver furniture is the alcove Minnie - which I painted in strong white and now have a small wardrobe there (space to build a shoe rack to the side of it) We are going to get quotes for having a mirror fitted (frameless) next week to bounce more light around. We are off shipping for bed linen now! Then I just need a headboard

Katie I think purbeck and skimming stone look ok next to each other, I have a hallway in skimming stone and a room off the hall in purbeck but I probably wouldn’t put them in the same room together. To my eye they have a different undertone. If ammonite is too blue maybe try strong white? Or paint the walls the same colour as the alcoves.

@NG sintered stone is like a porcelain and so the edge and the sink cut out will be plain and polished. In the same way any drainer grooves will be plain plus most sintered stone is so thin that the drainer grooves probably aren’t very deep or very effective. Speak to your kitchen designer to find the best option: Over mounted sink with drainer Flush fit sink with drainer Under mounted sink with drainer. Multi level sink with accessories that act as a drainer. Sink and drainer manufactured in the worktop material
