Help!!! Off-white hex floor tiles clash with white wall tiles/plumbing
Comments (39)Jonathandb1972, I was thinking of going with a grout that is the same colour or lighter than the grey tile. The hex will be grouted in a medium grey. This has already been done in the loo (the hex) and looks great. Neither are grouted in the above picture. Do you think there will still be issues with where the grout lines are if they are the same or lighter than the tile? Also, where the hex tile in the shower meets the grey tile will mainly be covered by the shower's profile. However, the shower only goes up to about 2m, so there will still be a visible "meeting" of tiles above that. My builder is a little concerned about how this will look as he will have to cut small pieces of tile to fill up the edge, which may stain once they start grouting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best......See MoreHELP!!! Kitchen extension - what colour floor tiles??
Comments (25)Hi Jemma, I agree with option 1 from your choices, would definitely work:-) but just to throw a cat in amongst the pigeons... Have you considered rubber flooring at all? Some excellent options available now, clean lines, you can choose to have it look like what it is, or mimic tiles or timber. Gives the best of both worlds as looks good & much softer under foot - just a thought :-)...See MoreHow can I incorporate this look without paying a lot for floor tiles?
Comments (20)Thanks to all who offered advice. The samples arrived and the space invader fabric was our favourite. None of the cube patterns were quite right. Do you think i could skip lining fabric since it is already so thick? I think it might be too bulky for a blind with lining too. The other thing I wanted is some general styling advice. I don't know whether I'm going to be able to pull off the look I was originally going for and i keep getting sidetracked by other things I also like. My original idea was a contemporary classic kitchen with a bit of an edge. So we have light grey shaker doors on bottom, then handleless white slab on top. Flooring probably wood effect herringbone vinyl. Walls will be off white and backsplash behind job will be very pale neutral zellige tiles. Handles will be more industrial style, I like quite a few from dowsing & Reynolds, probably in bronze so quite dark. Then there will be a built in bench with dark blue cushion on the seat and across the back. Table I would like something mid or dark wood and contemporary but I've also liked mid century style ones I've seen. And chairs are undecided but maybe black. Worktops are marble effect Quartz (white with grey veining) and an upstand and sink is undermount stainless steel. I have already bought pendants for above the dining table, they are patterned glass with a black ceiling cord. I can't tell whether I'm going to be able to make this work or just end up with an odd collection of styles which don't quite work and feel disappointed with it....See Morewhite gloss kitchen advice? want a cottage style look
Comments (5)Hi there! Is this the kitchen in your new home or just similar? Either way, stunning! You could definitely country-fy this space. Is it definitely white gloss and not beige? I know you don't want to change the kitchen itself but you are willing to change the work tops - how do you feel about changing just the door fronts? So not the carcasses at all, just the doors which is a lot less costly than replacing the kitchen. I think the worktop is great for a country style even if a little dark, but a classic design for country kitchens is definitely matt shaker units with either brushed silver knobs or shell style handles so this would make a huge difference! If not, it's still very possible! I Always say the two Ws of country style kitchen are Woods and Weaves! So baskets, trays, wood accents, woven decor etc. and can't beat a bit of cladding if you're wanting to decorate the walls! Keep to a similar colour to the kitchen so it doesn't stick out too much, keep it subtle. Some pics below for inspiration! I have tried to keep them to the same style that yours already is just to show you how it is possible to decorate around the pretty modern style....See Morepinklark
