Maybe some beech hedging on the fence line just to soften and define the line between patio and field also some protection from the wind. Also to stop your sight-line just flying off into the distance as well as unifying the trees. Should make things a bit cosier.

I have Brazilian slate. I had same issue when installed. So i used brick and slab cleaner from screw fix if i recall. Will add a photo of each i used in a bit. I then sealed them using a cheap slab sealer. Perfect, nothing wrong. cost about 20 quid for botha and 5 litre cans. They are now water proof, but slippery when wet especially with flip flops. opps.. Remember, if you need to allow soak away, you may not be able to use sealer as it creates a water barrier. but if its just in the garden on level ground sloping away form house you should be fine to go. As soon as dry, they are as good to go as before, but clean remember to let completely dry and needs 24 hours of good weather to dry. Use at least 2 coats. works a treat.!!!

Do you know what the landscaper used to fill the gaps in the paving? I’m not an expert, but mine used an epoxy resin which is bought in ready prepared bags and swept into the joints, then watered with a hose. It looks like wet sand before use but has dried hard. It isn’t cheap, but after four years it is still in place and so much better than a cement mix which tends to break up. It is also pretty impervious to weeds (just a couple sprouting). Here is mine. Paving needs a good clean but grout still in place! Jointed Easy is one of the resin brands, but there are others. Look on YouTube for tutorials.

Hi there, I am a bit late here, but just to ratify what Sonia said: I would not get rid of the York stone slabs at all! It would be a really good investment to get them cleaned and relaid! They look perfect for your surroundings! I also loved the stone wall that you have in your garden as well! Loads of elements that already add character to it! As for all the features that you want to add to your patio, I do agree that it is a lot for a single space, so maybe the best option is to create another patio area somewhere else in your garden and subdivide these features that you want among the different patio areas. Use paths to connect them and you have a journey through your garden! I know it is out of the scope of what you want, but I would also be tempted to adding some planting beds around the garden.
